NEWS 10 Years!!

The Phobia List has now been on the web for 10 years. It was actually on the pre- World Wide Web internet for a couple of years before the www came into existance. It was a much shorter list then. It's grown because of the interest and help of many people. I want to thank everyone that has helped or tried to help with the tending of the list. Without them this would be a mostly blank page. Thank you all. The List has been pilfered by many and appears in various forms throughout the web. If imitation is indeed the sincerest form of flattery then I suppose I should be flattered...but plagiarism being what it is......

Naturally though fear does not necessarily equate to a phobia, and finding the names is out of pure interest/amusement. Only a doctor can diagnose you with a phobia. :)
My fears are:
Failure [Atychiphobia].
Fear of decision making [Decidophobia]
Fear of public speaking [Glossophobia].
Fear of the future (linked to decision making) [Chronophobia - this definition actually means fear of time, but it shall do].
General anxiety/fear of everything [Panphobia] - Perhaps a slight exaggeration. :D

Can a person with altophobia (fear of altitude) do paragliding? In altophobia, the fear and emptiness occurs when you look down from a steep place.
http://www.ikarus.com.tr/english/faq/faqgeneral.htm
You can find the answers to the question that may generally come to mind in this page.
1. What is Paragliding? Paragliding canopy is a very light perfect aviation vehicle designed by benefiting from space technology. It is possible to stay in the air for hours, get high above your take off hills and fly on for miles and miles with it. A few extreme examples for paragliding can be given, such as 6-hour non-stop flight, getting up to 4000 meters from 50 meters and a record of 400 km flight. This duration of the flights depend on the experience of the pilot, the conditions of the flying area and the performance of the canopy.
2. Is Paragliding a dangerous sport, what’s the danger? ( BU SORUNUN DEVAMI GELECEK DAHA BITMEDI)
3. What are the possibilities of accidents? Accidents don’t happen of fate. There are rules and if you omit these rules the possibility of having an accident increases.
4. What if the weather changes while we are flying ?

Phobias The following is a collection of Phobia words, words that end in -phobia , from the Greek for fear or hatred . A phobia is an excessive, unreasonable or irrational fear of an object, place or situation. Phobias are extremely common, and anyone, no matter how well adjusted they are, can fall prey to them. Sometimes they start in childhood for no apparent reason; sometimes they emerge after a traumatic event; and sometimes they develop from an attempt to make sense of an unexpected and intense anxiety or panic. Alarmingly, for just about every object or situation imaginable there seems to be an associated phobia; though fortunately, in most circumstances they are easily cured. However, the object of this page is reference and entertainment, not medical. Neither is it in any way meant to poke fun at or ridicule those unfortunate enough to suffer such a problem. The following (long) list is merely intended to catalogue the often weird and wonderful names given to phobias and their attendant (sometimes surprising) fears. CALLING SHOTGUN: THE RULES
Ever have the problem of catching a ride with someone whose car doesn't have much of a back seat? At times like these, it is important to know the rules of calling shotgun. Never again will you let someone take advantage of you because you don't know the rules. 1) The first person to yell "SHOTGUN" gets to ride in the front seat.
2) The remaining back seats may be divvied up in the same manner by being the first to call "back right seat", etc..
3) The word "shotgun" must be loud enough to be heard by at least one witness. If no witness is to be found, or in case of a tie, the driver has the final word. After all, it is most likely his car. (note: if it isn't his car, and the owner is present, the owner's decision is final. Owner must be sober, however, or he will defer his judgment to the driver.)
4) Early calls are strictly prohibited. All occupants of the vehicle (including the driver) must be outside of the building and directly on the way to the vehicle before shotgun may be called. Under no circumstances may a person call shotgun inside a building. For sake of simplicity, a garage is considered to be outside. Parking structures and detached garages are always considered as being outdoors, even if they are underground. 5) A person may only call shotgun for one way of a trip. Shotgun can never be called while inside a vehicle or still technically on the way to the first location. For example, one can not get out of a vehicle and call Shotgun for the return journey.

38. Fear Of Heights | Fear Of Heights
The scientific latin names are acrophobia, altophobia, batophobia (fear of beingclose to high buildings), and acrophobia. But how to fix the heights phobia

Fear of heights
Fear of heights is one of the most widespread fears ever. And as most fears , it is often not standalone but coming with other phobias, especially fear of flying to name one. Being not as intimidating as other phobias can be, people suffering with fear of heights often try to live with it without getting a help, accomodating their lifestyle to the limitations (Imagine it: Forget visiting the Eiffel tower in Paris or Manhattan skyscraper. Never see beautiful mountain views. Holidays without visiting medieval castles. Summer without water jumping. Living on a ground floor home, limitation to possible career choices and even employer choices no skyscrapers, again.) Maybe IT IS quite intimidating, after all? The scientific latin names are acrophobia, altophobia, batophobia (fear of being close to high buildings), and acrophobia. But how to fix the heights phobia? That's a question people often ask at this point impatiently, not being interested in theoretical explanations. Some of the methods that work good enough are gradual desensitivitation, REBT, NLP or timeline therapy, to name a few. More and more material about them and other aspects of heights phobia will appear on this web. I would also like to point your interest to my incredibly simple method to overcome the fear of heights. To my knowledge, it is the easiest method available, with quickest fixes and highest success ratio. And the best of all is, you can DO IT ON YOUR OWN! The only assumption is that you can read and follow instructions. It is described in the workbook (see the box on the right), no theoretical fluff, just few plain simple steps and methods that really work, for adults and children as well! See testimonials page for what people who became free of fear of heights have to say about it.

(Redirected from Phonophobia Suffixes -archy -cide ... -philia -phobia -polis -scope -stan -ville ... -ware The English suffixes -phobia -phobic -phobe of Greek origin are technically used in psychiatry to construct words that describe irrational, disabling fear as a mental disorder (e.g., agoraphobia ) and in biology to descibe organisms that dislike certain conditions (e.g., acidophobia ). In common language is is also used in words that describe dislike or hatred of a particular thing or subject. The suffix "-phobia" is commonly misused in application to mild or irrational fears with no serious substance; however, earlier senses relate to psychiatry which studies serious phobias which disable a person's life.
