Hi My name is Frank, I'm an alcoholic. Not surprisingly we are many. I would like to take this time to share with you the wonderful power of GOD.
Life as an alcoholic
I have been very blessed for the Lord has visited me.
Who am I, but a mere sinner unworthy to see.
He came into my heart to awaken me.
Through His love, His care, His trust, His authority.
He showed me the way, to hope and prosperity.
I will shout His grace for the world to see.
Because the Lord has visited me.

"Nice to hear you are feeling a little better. Jesus loves you and he will fight the powers and forces in dark places for you. Just keep believing he can do it and he will in his time. Grow in patience and he will definitely reward you. Make sure you turn everything over to him, especially your sad thoughts, so he will make you feel his peace. Keep turning thoughts, situations over to Him each and every minute. It will be hard but I know you can do it. Take care and I will continue to pray for you. Love Doreen".
Went back to church regularly twice a week on Wednesday and Sunday, I found hope and peace. God is good! Went to my tenth AA meeting face to face, and my 80th online. 90 days of sobriety, Amen!

Alcoholism A Widespread Problem What Is Alcoholism? Alcoholism is a disease that is characterized by the following: Craving: A strong need, or compulsion, to drink.
Loss of control: The frequent inability to stop drinking once a person has begun.
Physical dependence: The occurrence of withdrawal symptoms, such as nausea, sweating, shakiness, and anxiety, when alcohol use is stopped after a period of heavy drinking. These symptoms are usually relieved by drinking alcohol or by taking another sedative drug.Alcoholism
What Is Alcohol Abuse? failure to fulfill major work, school, or home responsibilities;
drinking in situations that are physically dangerous, such as while driving a car or operating machinery;
recurring alcohol-related legal problems, such as being arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol or for physically hurting someone while drunk;
continued drinking despite having ongoing relationship problems that are caused or worsened by the effects of alcohol.
While alcohol abuse is basically different from alcoholism, it is important to note that many effects of alcohol abuse are also experienced by alcoholics.

Tuesday, January 23, 2001 U scientists study alcoholism drug's effects on kleptomania Benjamin Sandell Staff Reporter A drug meant to stop alcoholics from drinking might also keep kleptomaniacs from stealing if a University medication study succeeds. Psychiatric resident Dr. Jon Grant and associate professor Dr. Suck Won Kim, co-investigators in the study, are testing the drug Naltrexone on seven or eight participants in the study. Since late October, only one person has finished the study, but researchers said they are hopeful about the outcome. "The results look very promising," Grant said. Kleptomania, an impulse control disorder that creates an urge to steal, affects approximately 5 percent of shoplifters, said Gary Christenson, director of the mental health clinic at Boynton Health Service. "I expect there are more people out there with the problem than we see clinically," Christenson said.

"Hey, who wants a drink?" "Oh come on, just one drink won't hurt you. It's fun." "It's cool. Everybody drinks, right?" Wrong. Drinking alcohol is dangerous for kids and teens and sometimes for adults, too. Alcohol is a drug, and it is the drug most abused by teens. Many kids have their first drink at an early age, as young as 10 or 11 or even younger. They may have seen their parents drink or cool ads for beer and wine. It's easy for a kid to get the wrong message about alcohol. In TV commercials, drinking looks like a lot of fun. You might see people drinking and watching sports together or having a big party. But alcohol is actually a depressant . That means it's a drug that slows down or depresses the brain . Like many drugs, alcohol changes a person's ability to think, speak, and see things as they really are. A person might lose his or her balance and have trouble walking properly. The person might feel relaxed and happy and later start crying or get in an argument. What Happens When People Drink?
