Does your child have ADD? Only a doctor can tell you for sure but if they exhibit more than a few of these symptoms or if they exhibit even one to the point that it interferes with their quality of life, you owe it to them to learn more about Attention Deficit Disorder: Basically, ADD and ADHD symptoms fall into two main categories - movement challenges and attention challenges. ADD symptoms associated with attention challenges: 1. Does your child seem to have problems getting things done, finishing tasks, completing activities? 2. Is your child often forgetful, more than would seem normal for a child and given that children are forgetful in general? 3. Is your child easily distracted? Does their attention wander more often than seems normal to you? 4. Does your child stare off into space while you are talking to them, even when you are not scolding or asking them about schoolwork, or some other conversation they would naturally want to avoid? ADD symptoms associated with hperactivity 1. Do you notice your child fidgiting with his or her hands and feet or wiggling around in their seats, seemingly unable to sit still?

ADHD Summer Camp - AD/HD Summer Camp - LD Adventure Summer Camp
SOAR believes all individuals identified with learning disabilities (LD) and attention deficit disorders (ADD, ADHD, AD/HD) possess inherent talents, abilities, and gifts, which we harness during our summer camps, fall and spring weekends, winter break program and semester courses. The SOAR model is founded on two fundamental principles. The first principle is youth with LD and ADHD flourish when they are encouraged to focus on their strengths in an experiential setting, such as summer camp and outdoor adventure activities. The second principle is that youth with LD and ADHD must develop and utilize strategies that enable them to deal with the challenges associated with LD and ADHD. Students participating in SOAR's summer camps, weekend, winter break and semester courses take part in adventure experiences as diverse as camping, rock climbing, whitewater rafting, SCUBA diving, sea kayaking, and horseback riding. These activities provide the venue for developing problem-solving skills; effective communication strategies; increased self-awareness and general social skills. By achieving this success at SOAR, each student builds essential self-esteem and self-confidence that translates into all walks of life. Even though SOAR serves youth with LD and ADHD exclusively, our students do not view SOAR as a LD or ADD summer camp or an LD or ADHD adventure program. Matter of fact, our students will probably not hear the terms learning disabilities or attention deficit disorder or the acronyms, LD or ADHD, during their SOAR experience. SOAR moves past the labels and focuses on strategies for dealing with the challenges associated with

109. ADD/ADHD What Does It Mean For Parents And Families
FAQ on add or adhd attention deficit hyperactivity.
http://www.childrensdisabilities.info/adhd/add-adhd.html
ADD/ADHD FAQ : What Does It Mean for Parents and Families when Their Child is Diagnosed with This Condition? by Anne S. Robertson
"What is ADD/ADHD?"
All children may have some of these behaviors, at an age-appropriate level, or during a transitional phase, such as after the birth of a new baby in the family. However, the ADD/ADHD child will show a pattern, over a period of years, of having a number of these characteristics at levels that are not situation- or age-appropriate. The scientific study of the ADD/ADHD condition has been extensive although the name has changed over the past few decades. In the past, children who have had signs of this condition have been labeled as fidgety, minimally brain damaged, hyperkinetic, or having minimal brain dysfunction (Goldstein, 1992). The American Psychiatric Association outlines the criteria for defining ADD/ADHD, including the presence of at least 8 of 14 behavior characteristics (Wodrich, 1994). The diagnosis of ADD/ADHD should not be made quickly. It should include information from a variety of significant adults in the child's life including the parents, teachers, physician, and psychologist who specializes in the field, as well as input from the child. It may also be helpful to have a learning specialist involved since ADD/ADHD children frequently have special education needs such as giftedness or difficulty in math. As research continues, some specialists are encouraging people to think of ADD/ADHD not as a disorder, but simply as a different style of learning which, when supported, can enhance the student's innate abilities.

  • Henry Altenberg, MD Daniel J. Benor, MD ... Order Page For an inside look at how an expert uses EFT to eliminate ADD and ADHD, please review the following guidelines by Don A. Blackerby, PhD. His success ratio is 90-95% and this is accomplished without drugs. You can find his current contact information on our contacts page. His comments assume you are familiar with EFT. You can learn EFT in a quality, affordable manner through our premiere video products SPECIFIC WAYS TO USE EFT ON THE SYMPTOMS OF ADD/ADHD I am Don A. Blackerby, Ph.D., founder of Success Skills headquartered previously in Oklahoma City, OK and now in Parker, CO. I have been an educator for over 30 years in various capacities. I have been working with students with ADD/ADHD for almost 10 years with a 90-95% success rate. I apply EFT right away to ADD/ADHD clients by aiming at their specific behavior problems as they occur. So, for an adult, it may be that they keep disrupting business meetings with non-relevant ideas, or, it may be that they are having a problem focusing on and expressing an idea, or, they may talk incessantly and don’t know when to stop and listen. For students, it may be that they are arguing with their parents about having to do homework, or, they don’t want to go to school, or, they cannot stay focused on the lesson at hand. If either an adult or student is displaying one of the symptoms of ADD/ADHD (such as hyperactivity, distraction, not listening, etc), I will use EFT on that symptom. With high frequency, that symptom subsides.

"My work as an educator and psychologist in the fields of multiple intelligences, the myth of ADD/ADHD, and the natural genius of kids, has been guided by a belief that all children are gifted children. Each child comes into the world with unique potentials that, if properly nourished, can contribute to the betterment of our world. The biggest challenge for parents and teachers is to remove the roadblocks that keep those gifts from being recognized, celebrated, and nurtured."
