"Head-Heart-Hands-Health" The 4-H Youth Development Program is a nonformal educational youth program, conducted by the University of California Cooperative Extension.The Marin County 4-H Office is located at 1682 Novato Blvd, Suite 150-B, Novato, CA 94947. Phone (415) 499-4207, FAX (415) 499-4209. 4-H Staff: Jane Chin Young, 4-H Advisor; Cindy Jensen, Program Rep; Deborah Skaar, Secretary. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 9am-12noon and 1pm-4pm. WHAT: Members participate in learn by doing activities, youth-adult partnerships, and research-based educational programs to help enhance their leadership abilities and develop a wide range of other life skills. Membership age is 5-19, with some limitations for primary members age 5-8. The current program year is July 1, 2005-June 30, 2006. WHY: 4-H develops leadership/citizenship skills; provides life skills education; strengthens youth-families-communities; and advances the field of youth development HOW: Members may participate in clubs, special interest groups, camp or other program settings.     2005 Mark Springer Youth Travel Grant Program 2005 Winners Download an application (PDF) In 2000, USA Track & Field (USATF) began issuing "Pursuit of Excellence" Travel Assistance Grants to eligible youth clubs across the country. The grants have helped hundreds of clubs offset expenses related to bringing athletes to USATF national or developmental championships, specifically the Junior Outdoor Championships, Youth Outdoor Championships, and Junior Olympic Track & Field and Cross Country Championships. Over $70,000 has been awarded to more than 90 clubs since the program's inception making it one of USATF's most popular grass roots efforts and a direct benefit for your membership as a USATF Club. The program has been renamed the Mark Springer Youth Travel Grant Program after the former USATF Director of Grass Roots Programs and Planning and originator of the program who passed away in December 2004.

Massachusetts 4-H is rooted in communities throughout Massachusetts, is directed through the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and is affiliated with national 4-H through the United States Department of Agriculture. The club meets twice a month and the club is open to all teens from the ages of 13 through 19. They discuss health education and drug intervention topics, and plan dances and fundraisers to sponsor field trips to San Francisco and Santa Cruz, and camping excursions. Highway City Neighborhood Center Teen Club This teen club meets twice a month on the 2nd and 4th Thursday to discuss upcoming fundraisers such as basketball tournaments, pizza book sales and car washes. They plan fields trips to Magic Mountain, Santa Cruz, Hearst Castle and Giants Baseball Games. The club gets involved in community service projects such as cleaning yards for senior citizens in the area. The club also has plans for workshops and invites various organizations such as the Fresno Police Department Gang Task Force to speak to the youth regarding gang violence prevention programs every other month.

Purpose
To broaden and strengthen opportunities for positive development and participation in community life for youth, and to discourage such persons from engaging in criminal and violent behavior.

How The Program Works
Tax credits are allocated to organizations administering positive youth development or crime prevention projects that have been approved through the application process. Approved organizations secure contributions from their community, and the contributor receives tax credits for those contributions. There are 50% tax credits for monetary contributions and wages paid to youth in an approved internship, apprenticeship or employment project, and 30% tax credits for property or equipment contributions used specifically for the project.

The Appaloosa Youth Association (AYA)
The Appaloosa Youth Association was established to emphasize good horsemanship through proper methods of training both horse and rider; to provide recognition for young people who own or show Appaloosas; to promote ideals of citizenship, sportsmanship, showmanship, and leadership, and to promote capabilities of youth in breeding, raising, and competing on Appaloosas. A variety of activities are available and may include team tournaments, speech contests, art and essay contests, photography contests, youth clinics, scholarships, horse shows, meetings and banquets. The AYA offers a national point system. Points earned may lead to various lifetime awards, annual high point awards and awards to recognize outstanding youth horses. There are programs designed for the beginning showman as well as those that challenge the most advanced exhibitor.

Police And Citizens' Youth Club
BACKGROUND
The Federation of Western Australian Police and Citizens' Youth Club (PCYC) was formed in 1941 under the authority of the Police Minister of the day Mr W Kitson. On formation, the organisation was known as "Police Boys' Clubs", later changed to "Police and Citizens' Boys Clubs" to recognise the citizens' contribution and in 1957 again changed to "Police and Citizens' Youth Clubs" to facilitate female membership. The organisation is an "incorporated" and "registered charitable" body working within the guidelines of a Constitution with Policy directed by a "Council of Management". The Council of Management is chaired by the President, the Commissioner of Police, and comprises senior police officers and prominent members of the business community.
KEY OBJECTIVES
The objectives of the Federation are to conduct and maintain a viable club structure capable of delivering the following :
  • To provide clean healthy recreation for young people.
  • To teach young people about good citizenship and observance of the laws of the State.
  • To encourage an appreciation of music, literature, art and culture amongst young people.

Circle K International
Circle K is a service club for collegians and has nearly 13,000 members on more than 500 university and college campuses in 13 nations. Circle K was started in Pullman, Washington, and was formally organized as a service organization in 1947. Its members are committed to leadership, service, and fellowship.
Key Club International
The oldest Kiwanis sponsored-youth program is Key Club. Seventeen boys in Sacramento, California, made up the first Key Club in 1925, and today the organization is active in 20 nations and includes 4,711 clubs and 234,528 members. More than 2 million youth have enlisted in Key Club since its inception, including many who are now top government and business leaders.
Builders Club
When middle school and junior high students began to show an interest in organizing to serve their schools and communities, the Builders Club program was launched in 1975. With support from Kiwanis clubs, Key Clubs, and Circle K clubs, the Builders Club network has grown to include more than 1,500 clubs and 44,000 members in 13 nations.
