NACWC Youth Clubs
The National Association of Youth Clubs The National Association of Colored Girls was founded by Mrs. Sallie W. Stewart in 1930 Hot Springs, AR. The name was later changed to the National Association of Girls Clubs (NAGC). The Motto for the girls is "Know Thyself". The emblem represents the four leaf clover, the fourfold development of girls - Mind, Soul, Body, Race. The National Association of Boys Club (NABC) was organized in Norfolk, Virginia on July 30, 1984 by Mrs. Otelia E. Champion. The Boys Motto is "Service With a Plan". The emblem is Ladder to Success which represents moving up as the pitfalls of life are surmounted: improving and utilizing the mind to the fullest; developing and maintaining a sound healthy body which is the basis of wealth and happiness: upholding the legacy and promise of our race while seeking the highest ideals for our souls as we serve our God and our fellow man. The NAGC and NABC merged and are now the National Association of Youth Clubs. Youth clubs must be sponsored by an adult club of the National Association of Colored Women's Clubs. Each club formulates bylaws to suit the needs of the locality. There must be a supervisor for each club. Upon recommendation of a sponsoring club, youth are accepted for membership. Navy Youth Programs in Hawaii are undergoing some major changes focused on making youth and teen programs even better.
The new program operates with emphasis on five different core programs: character and leadership development, education and career development, health and life skills, the arts, and sports and fitness and recreation. It will affect all Navy teen centers and school age care programs in Hawaii.
The care programs, geared for youth ages 6-12, offers recreational activities, arts and crafts, homework help and computer activities.
The teen program for ages 10-18 is divided into two groups: the Keystone Club for ages 14-18 and the Torch Club for ages 11-13.
An arts program provides opportunities for travel and to attend conferences and participate in arts events. According to Jetta Dupree, Teen Director for Morale, Welfare and Recreation at Pearl Harbor, "The program is based on a lot of recognition and awards. It is designed as a positive reinforcement and offers a lot of opportunities for youth to express themselves."
By partnering with other Navy agencies, such as the Fleet and Family Support Center (FFSC), youth will be offered classes on such topics as time management, finances, anger management, conflict resolution and nutrition.

PROJECT C.U.R.E. Clubs Program Because students are a key target group for our volunteer recruitment efforts, PROJECT C.U.R.E. has begun the PROJECT C.U.R.E. Clubs Program to help students organize international service clubs at their schools. These student-led volunteer organizations are part of the PROJECT C.U.R.E. mission to actively foster hearts of compassion in the lives of youth. Each student that volunteers at PROJECT C.U.R.E. learns that they can make a difference. By working together, individual hearts can be changed. It is a lesson that many students can apply to other areas of their lives. Indeed, PROJECT C.U.R.E. believes that our communities and schools will be better places because of the efforts of thousands of student volunteers who will touch the lives of people abroad. By tangibly, enthusiastically teaching compassion, PROJECT C.U.R.E. can impact the future on both sides of the ocean. At PROJECT C.U.R.E., we are passionate about expanding knowledge of international issues among our nation’s youth. The PROJECT C.U.R.E. Clubs Program will provide students with hands-on opportunities to impact the health of the most desperately ill and needy people in hospitals and clinics around the world.
