    Wyoming Western Trails Project
A special project of the Wyoming State Historical Society is participation in the Western Trails Project Officially known as " Western Trails: Museum/Library Collaborative in Western States ," the project originated from the Institute of Museum and Library Services , an independent Federal grant-making agency dedicated to creating and sustaining a nation of learners. The multi-state two-year project administered by the University of Denver will "aid in the creation of digital copies of source materials related to the historic western migration of the U.S. population, whether on foot, by horse-drawn conveyance, by rail, or by highway."
This project proposes to bring together several Western states in a collaborative digitization project. The project will include a mixture of archives, historical societies, libraries and museums from Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska and Wyoming. These four states share common borders, common heritage and common customs. The Wyoming State Library is the lead institution for Wyoming, and several other Wyoming libraries, museums, and other historically oriented institutions, including the Wyoming State Historical Society, are participating.
