Internet Resources for Writing
Bearlife Women's Writing Advocate This site has a lot of interesting writing links. It is also a business source, with the business end aimed solely at women. I will wholeheartedly recommend the links-I've found them useful. I know nothing about Bearlife's representation or the quality of the services it offers, so while I include the link, and feel sure it will be of interest to some of you, its presence here does not represent an endorsement of Bearlife. As with all things that require the exchanging of funds for services, "Buyer Beware". International Writer's Calendar A current list of writing workshops all over the world that you can apply to attend. Nicely organized. Internet Resources A eclectic page of links of interest to writers, especially writers of fantasy. Some links that you won't find on the massive database pages. Very good page. Inkspot's Resources for Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers An enormous reference database linked to an even larger site of interest to ALL writers. I highly recommend a long browse through this entire site. You're sure to find something of interest. (Note: writers of other genres and mainstream-you can get to the whole database through the above link. The site is very well put together.)

Romance Subgenres
Romance as a genre encompasses so much fiction that it can be broken down further into subgenres, such as Historical Romance, Alternative Reality Romance, and Contemporary Romance. And those subgenres can be broken down also, for example Alternative Reality Romance can be broken down into Fantasy Romance and Time Travel Romance. To keep things as uncomplicated as possible, we are going to look at six popular subgenres and give you some virtual places to visit to learn more about each one.
Historical Romance
Historical Romances are simply love stories with historical settings. Any historical setting is possible, be it medieval, Victorian, or prehistoric. Of course, the most romantic time periods make the best romances. Mary Balogh
The Web site of New York Times bestselling author Mary Balogh includes series information, backlist titles, information on new releases, as well as a newsletter and fan list.

Books for All Writers
The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron
Marvelous, marvelous book. Years ago it helped me regain my own creativity and begin my first novel. Highly recommended for any writer or artist. Heck, highly recommended for anyone! And consider joining a group working through The Artist's Way together. It can certainly be done alone, but there's additional joy and support in a group that shares the experience. The Synonym Finder by J.I. Rodale The world's best thesaurus, hands down! I only wish this were available online or on CD...but it occupies a special (and easily accessible) place on my bookshelf. Note: I recommend the hardcover edition over the paperback. Other users have told me the paperback seems to have thinner pages and doesn't last as long. I purchased the hardcover and love it. I've even given it as a gift to other writers! by John Wood Great query examples for all kinds of writing submissions, from articles to novels to nonfiction.
