Entertaining the world
There is an inner magic in a good book that you cannot just describe. Academia is very used to picking things apart, but it misses out what a great book is about. The greatest book is the one that touches you personally the most. And more than any other literature in the world, romances are focused on feelings. They are very difficult for people to write, which is why so few writers are chosen from the thousands who try. The top romance writers literally strip themselves down to the soul and live what they're writing. Not many people are prepared to do that. We all protect ourselves with images or shields. To strip all that away, you're laying yourself on the line. Academics don't even begin to understand that. You're taking the reader by the hand and saying, 'Come live this life with me for a while.' If you get it right for them it is a very emotional experience.

    128. Money Article
Sabrina Jeffries' article and chart covering potential income for an average midlist romance author.
    http://sabrinajeffries.com/writing/money.htm
We all know how a typical romance author lives. She rises in the morning to the smell of breakfast cooked by her housekeeper and brought to her on a silver tray by her butler. After donning her Givenchy dressing gown, she sits down to read the New York Times and dictate letters to her trusty personal assistant. She bathes in her jacuzzi, then dresses in her Donna Karan leisure wear to work an hour or two at her state-of-the-art computer. Then she jets off to New York to meet with her editor, after which she has a nice lunch at the Russian Tea Room. This scenario is so far removed from my own life that I had to go online to find out an expensive designer name for the opening of this article. I'm sure there are romance writers out there who live like this, but only if they fit one of the following descriptions:
    • Their husbands are brain surgeons They inherited old money They have incredible luck at the gambling tables
The rest of us earn anything from a pittance to a very nice living. And this is where I explain to you why that is.

Loretta Chekani is more Albanian , for one thing. Loretta Chase, writer of romances, has a buffed lack of ethnicity. Loretta Chekani, a resident of Worcester, doesn't drive, lives on the top of a hill, and sometimes doesn't leave her house for days. She wears sweatshirts to mid-thigh. Loretta Chase wrote this line: He raked her sweetness thirstily. And it is Loretta Chase, authoress, who is sitting before a list of names this afternoon. Next to the list of names is a framed photograph of the film star Rufus Sewell and a book called What Shall We Name the Baby? The book is not being used for babies. The list reads:

Featured Romance Author Writing Humor Comes Naturally
    An Interview with Peggy Webb
by Pam Kingsbury Peggy Webb has been earning a living at writing romances, columns, and women's fiction for almost twenty years. A native of Lee County, Mississippi, she currently resides in a hundred year old farmhouse outside of Tupelo. The author of fifty-five romance novels, her work has been praised for its' humor and originality. The Accidental Princess , her most recent release, was selected for Silhouette's Readers' Ring Discussion Group. At one time Mississippi claimed to have the most writers per square mile in America. How are you influenced by place? I am steeped in the songs of the South - the voices of its people and its land. When I enter the mind of a character I hear the speech patterns, the cadences of northeast Mississippi. When I create a setting I see the sweet rolling hills I roamed as a child. My daddy was a farmer with a deep respect for the land, which he passed on to me. Southern writers love detail and words. In that respect my writing is deeply Southern. I love particularity the rhythms. When I write I hear the lyrical beauty of the words. My books are, on some level, music - the music of the South.

    About the Author...
Until recently, Patricia Simpson hailed from the moody shores of the Puget Sound in Washington State, where writing paranormal suspense novels was a natural consequence of living in the mist and rain. Since her marriage to a Scotsman (yes, a real livewire Scot just like those heroes in her novels!), she now resides in the Bay Area of San Francisco, California.
Patricia's favorite writing arenas are the 18th century in America and Great Britain, Pacific Northwest Native American history and issues, ancient Egypt, and anything that involves weird science. All of her published novels are contemporary paranormal or romantic suspense.
