The focus of the proposal is a series of hands-on faculty workshops that demonstrate how particular technologies can facilitate the use of writing in any course. In addition, the project provides ongoing support as faculty implement technology-based writing in their courses. The project also creates online writing resources for students that include informational and interactive components. Writing Centers participating in the project will offer online consulting services to individuals and groups of students. This integrated, intercollegiate approach will create an environment that takes full advantage of the pedagogical benefits that emerge from the joining of technology and writing. Introduction Technology can fundamentally change the way students and faculty think about writing and the writing process. Sadly, the Claremont Colleges lag far behind other institutions in the integration of technology and writing, both within introductory writing courses and within discipline-specific courses that use writing.
