DREAM ROLE
Several years ago I had the following dream. I share it with you now so that you too may profit by its lesson.

Doris Howie
HOME
In my dream there were perhaps a hundred people of all ages being held prisoner in what looked like a cemented barnyard. Twice a week the compound was cleared of prisoners while a tractor scraped the cement clean, first in one direction and then the other. Since there were no proper washrooms for the prisoners, the scraping was welcomed by all concerned for far more than the break in routine which it offered.
Who the prisoners were I do not know, but their keepers were evidently Christians, and it must have been the spring of the year. Read on, and you'll discover how I knew.
One day an actor was brought in to the compound by the keepers, who I sensed were missionaries. It was his responsibility to portray Jesus Christ to the prisoners, and he did a great job of it. His lines were letter-perfect; his body language, superb . Nobody familiar with the story of Jesus could have faulted his portrayal. What an actor!! What an Academy-Award-Winning performance!!! I was IMPRESSED. This guy was good!
Then suddenly he appeared one morning with great gaping wounds in his hands and feet!

What is the Critters Workshop?
Critters is an on-line workshop/critique group for serious writers of Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror. You get your work critiqued in exchange for critiquing the work of others, both of which are invaluable ways to improve your writing. It's run by Dr. Andrew Burt , currently vice-president of SFWA , and his army of software minions. Critters is free (except for the work of doing critiques!); if you find Critters useful, you may make a donation (appreciated but in no way required).

A. J.'s Writing Groups
We know writing can be lonely work, so we found a writers' saint A. J. Levinson to host our free writers groups for fiction writers, nonfiction writers, and poets . Participation in the groups helps build a community where writers can gather for inspiration and support, exchange critiques, keep in touch with fellow class members, or just to chat. The groups are run from lists, like our classes. When you register for a group you are given the address of the group list; any mail sent to the list is duplicated and forwarded to everyone else in the group. The groups are not moderated; there's no protocol set up for submitting and critiquing work, no teacher, and no rules about what the group should or should not discuss. You can register or unregister whenever you like by writing to groups@writers.com . When your registration is accepted, you'll receive the group address along with notes on how to participate. Our one restriction is that only those age eighteen or over register for the groups.
