LITCs are qualifying organizations that represent low income taxpayers involved in tax disputes with the IRS. LITCs may also inform taxpayers for whom English is a second language, or who have limited English proficiency, of their tax rights and responsibilities. Some organizations receive awards for providing both types of services. Organizations operating independent taxpayer clinics can qualify to receive up to $100,000 in matching funds through the program. The LITC grant program, now in its seventh year, encourages the creation and growth of LITCs across the nation.
