Please note!
Most of our CDs have been imported from Europe or Asia. They are not all shrink-wrapped , and I am not going to con you by wrapping them here just to make you think they have been sterilized in America. I guarantee that the CDs and the contents are all brand new and in perfect condition. Whenever I can, I use recycled shipping materials . They may not look as pretty on the outside, but they save money and keep the trash dumps a little bit emptier.

Helsinki Melodeon Ladies

The 4th in our cdRescue series, this is wonderful 5 track recording of five 2-row melodeon masters, featuring Maria Kalaniemi, Riitta Kossi, Pia Rask, Maija Karhinen, Sirkka Kosonen in a group of tunes both traditional and surprising. Like all the cdR series, and nice price, too!
Geitungen
Bra Kast!
A trio of fiddle, guitar and accordion from Rogaland in southwest Norway plays the traditional music of the region with straight-forward, youthful energy and a minimum of hyp and fusion. Håvard Ims (accordion), Vidar Stefán Berntsson Skrede (fiddle and hardanger) and Olav Christer Rossebø (guitar, mandolin, mandola) play it to-the-bone, from driving dances to delicate tunes. brakast Moussu T et lei Jovents Mademoiselle Marseille Tatou and Blu of the Massilia Sound System join Brazilian percussionist Jamilson to explore the city of Marseilles, circa 1930. Provençal songs sit side by side with Vincent Scotto operettas, jazz, blues, Latin and Caribbean dance music evoking the coastline from Marseille to La Ciotat. This is unique French music, a rough-hewn acoustic sound, augmented by clever electronics, samples and audio archival snippets, all to create a psuedo-historical documentary that might be more true than the real thing.

The World Music Archives
The World Music Archives began as Prof. Emeritus David McAllester's personal collection of Comanche and Navajo music, recorded in 1940 and 1950, respectively. It was first used in teaching at Wesleyan in 1953. As the World Music Program developed, the collection grew rapidly in both size and scope. Scholars and graduate students, here and elsewhere, contributed materials used in their research, expanding the collection into new areas. Added to these were many recordings of local performances, lectures, etc., by visiting artists. Today the Archives contains well over 3000 original audio tapes (reel-to-reel tapes, cassettes, digital audio tapes, and digitally-recorded betamax), approximately 700 discs (primarily 78 rpm commercial discs, but also a number of instantaneous disc records), and 100 videotapes in numerous formats, plus three four-drawer filing cabinets of accompanying notes, texts, and indexes. Wesleyan is extremely fortunate to have Dr. McAllester's Navajo collection, the largest in the world, which includes eight different versions of Blessingway, two of Shootingway (among other ceremonies), each with hundreds of songs. Other important collections in the Archives include the only recordings in the United States of the Ulahingan, an epic of the Bagobo people in the Philippines; important collections of Iranian, Japanese, Spanish, Shetland Islands, Greek, Rhodesian (now Zimbabwe) mbira music, and North Indian (Hindustani); and exceptional collections of Indonesian and South Indian (Karnatak) music, two specialties of the world music program at Wesleyan.
