Time to read the signs: Symptoms of heart attacks in women
May 12, 1999 Web posted at: 2:36 PM EDT (1836 GMT) In this story: Know the signs What to do Happy ending RELATEDS By Michelle Holcenberg (WebMD) Four years ago Nancy Loving had never heard the phrase "women and heart disease," despite having done public relations work for a number of health campaigns. That changed the day she woke up at 4 a.m. feeling light-headed and clammy. She might have passed it off as a bout of the flu if it hadn't been for the tremendous pain in her upper back. Thankfully she read the pain as a warning sign and had her teenage daughter drive her to the emergency room. When Loving arrived at the hospital, the doctor realized she was having a heart attack and immediately administered a blood clot-busting drug. At 48 she'd had no previous symptoms of heart disease, but all the warning signs were there she smoked, was overweight, got little exercise, and had a stressful job and a family history of heart attacks. And at the hospital she found out her cholesterol was at 313, well above the healthy range.

We have added to it during March and April of each year since then. We are currently in the process of adding to the collection with this student work. The children choose a woman based on a topic they are interested in. This is by no means a complete collection. We hope you enjoy your visit and come back soon to see our new addition! updated Visit our timeline

Missing Women's Ceremony
Statement by Kukdookaa Terri Brown
President, Native Women's Association of Canada
April 12, 2002 I first want to send my sincere condolences to all the families who lost a cousin, an aunty, a sister, a daughter, and a mother. Second I want to thank all of you who have come out today to honour the spirits of the women and families. Without the many dedicated people working to assist the families and the police, we would not have seen the justice being exercised today. I applaud the Family Haven tent for being there and assisting family members. The Native Women Association of Canada does not wish to stop the progress into the on-going investigation. We want to see justice run its course. We applaud the long hours the police have spent on the investigation. We hope that more clues will surface which will lead to the other missing women. Any assistance from the public will help families such as Ernie Crey to find their lost loved ones. Should you have any information that could assist in the investigation we urge you to come forward. Your assistance could help find the suspect to these hideous crimes. For years, women organizations have been lobbying government to get more money for women's services and programs. We would like to see more funds donated by government, organizations, and individuals to assist in the war against sexual abuse and violence on women. If you have any further questions you can call the Native Women's Association of Canada at 613-722-3033 or email alarge@nwac-hq.org. Thank you for your time.

About us
In essence Syster-tree exists to provide a positive and supportive environment in which individual women can grow, learn and develop. This is achieved by celebrating our pagan way of life, empowering ourselves as women and honouring Mother Earth.
Our main mode of communication is via a Yahoo group but we are increasing developing a 'real world' presence. We have a P.O. Box and Bank a/c. and are developing a constitution that should allow us to be recognised as a charitable, not-for-profit organisation.
Many of our members have male family and loved-ones who they greatly value, but they also value the strength and solidarity that can be gained from working together with other women. In recognition of this Syster-tree holds two national women-only events each year. A week long camp during the school summer holidays and a winter indoor weekend gathering. Members are welcome to bring their daughters and young sons to these events. As clusters of members form in specific areas of the UK, Regional Syster-tree Representatives are setting up regular local moots and other local women-only events. In addition to these we also have occasional 'family events' where our menfolk are most welcome.
Syster-tree is concerned that sometimes women are excluded from the pagan community due to their financial situation, disability or childcare commitments. Syster-tree is committed to avoiding discrimination of this sort, so we endeavour to make our events as inexpensive, physically accessible and child friendly as possible.

Chapter Summaries
PART ONE: CHAPTER 1: PLAYING PILGRIMS
In this, the opening chapter, the reader meets the four main characters, Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy. The girls are trying to decide what to get each other for Christmas. This year, however, their father is away at war and funds are limited. The girls finally decide that they will each by a gift for Marmee instead of a gift for themselves. When Marmee returns home, the girls learn that she has received a letter from their father. The girls and their mother gather in front of the fire and read the letter. CHAPTER 2: A MERRY CHRISTMAS
The girls wake early on Christmas morning to discover that their mother has placed a different colored book under each of their pillows. They prepare breakfast and then sacrifice it to another family in need down the street. The girls then give Marmee her gifts and perform a play, Operatic Tradegy . Dinner comes as a surprise to the girls when they learn that old Mr. Laurence has provided them with ice cream, bonbons, and flowers. CHAPTER 3: THE LAURENCE BOY
Jo and Meg attend a New Year's Eve party at Mrs. Gardiner's house. There is much commotion getting the two girls ready as they try to make the best of their old dresses and gloves. Jo tries to curl Meg's hair but only burns the ends off in a great tragedy. At the party, Jo meets Laurence, the grandson of old Mr. Laurence. He tells Jo that he would like to be called Laurie instead of his given name, Theodore, because classmates had teased him in the past. The girls return from the party and share their experiences with their sisters.
