Like other members of the Diprotodontia , they are syndactylous and diprotodont Wombats are medium to large size animals (19-39 kg) with a stocky body, short limbs, small ears, and a very short tail. The head is compactly built and is used in constructing tunnels. The limbs are especially powerfully, with short broad feet and strong, flat claws (except on the hallux , which is vestigial). Posture is plantigrade . Wombats are burrowers, building impressive burrow systems with many burrows. Some burrows exceed 20 m in length. Wombats have a remarkably rodent-like skull . They have a single pair of incisors . These teeth are heavily built and rodent-like in form. Also like the incisors of rodents, the incisors of wombats have

      Dingo fence to protect wombats
The survival prospects of one of the world's most endangered mammals have been improved with the completion of a dingo-proof fence that protects the last population at Epping Forest National Park near Clermont, central Queensland. Only about 113 northern hairy-nosed wombats remain, on that one small national park. In 2000-01, ten of the wombats were killed by dingoes, a heartbreaking loss for the scientists, rangers and volunteers who had toiled for a decade to help the species recover from the brink of extinction. In a very short period, they lost about ten percent of the last-known population of northern hairy-nosed wombats. QPWS decided a dingo-proof fence was the best long-term option for protecting the future of the unique species.

Early Aussies co-existed with three tonne wombats
It turns out that the "megafauna" (e.g., giant, fantastical monstrous beasts) of Australia likely co-existed with its earliest human inhabitants, who had to dodge "three tonne wombats" and the "world's all-time biggest lizard." Analyses of ancient fossils suggest that early Australian Aborigines did not wipe out the continent's megafauna in a frenzied hunting rampage. New research conducted by Australian and British scientists reveals that in fact humans and megafauna, such as gigantic three tonne wombat-like creatures, a ferocious marsupial "lion" and the world's all-time biggest lizard, may have co-existed for around 15 000 years. most times when i see a band, i ask them if they will draw a picture of what they think a wombat is for me. it was inspired in part by a kid i sort of knew who would go to comic book conventions and ask the artists to draw cow, so he had a whole wall of cow drawings. i thought it should be something that people may not really know what it is. so in every issue of annoyance, i have a whole bunch of these drawings.
they are collected here, in the wombat gallery. at least i think it is all of them except the newest issue.

It's easy to make, hard to mess up, tasty, and soothing. For two Wild Wombats, you will need: 2 fingers vodka in each short glass
1 tablespoon of Rose's lime per drink
1 bottle chilled Reed's Extra Ginger Brew, divided over the two glasses

The Kirinari toddler room is called The Wombats. It is for children 18 months to 3 years. It is a great, fun room that has a strong child-centred program. We are a busy room with many extended activities in place to stimulate the children's cognitive and intellectual development. We provide a environment that promotes autonomy and fosters self-esteem. Our art and craft activities are responsive to the needs of our very creative and hands-on toddlers. We provide a sound, safe and changing physical outdoor environment. We have a playground surrounded by native plants and gum trees. Our indoor area is spacious with two extra rooms for group times, dramatic play and block construction. There are places for 25 toddlers. The dedicated, professional
