Contact Us Wild wolves back in Britain Wolves once roamed wild all over the woodlands of Britain and if one landowner in the highlands of Scotland has his way, they could soon be back on the prowl Paul Lister, the owner of a large country estate 40 miles north of Inverness, plans to fence off his land and release wolves, bears, linx and bison back into the wild. As well as Britain’s big four, as he calls them, he would like to bring back the moose and wild boar also. It’s more than just a cranky idea because Lister is an expert in protecting the habitat of wild animals all across the world, especially the wolves, bears and linx that roam the beautiful forests of Romania in eastern Europe. His plan for the Alladale estate is to restore the woodland’s endangered trees and fl owers such as Caledonian pine, juniper, hazel and round birch that have been destroyed by the increasing numbers of wild deer. Experts agree a pack of 20 wolves would help contain the 1,600 deer that roam the area. Poor habitat Paul van Vlissingen, one of Scotland’s largest landowners, has long campaigned for the wolf’s return and other landowners are being asked to help too. Lister’s hope is that they can pool their estates into one vast nature reserve.

Regurgitative Food Transfer Among Wild Wolves
By L. David Mech , Paul C. Wolf , and Jane M. Packard
Abstract Few studies of monogamous canids have addressed regurgitation in the context of extended parental care and alloparental care within family groups. We studied food transfer by regurgitation in a pack of wolves on Ellesmere Island, North West Territories, Canada during six summers from 1988 through 1996. All adult wolves, including yearlings and a post-reproductive female, regurgitated food. Although individuals regurgitated up to five times per bout, the overall ratio of regurgitations per bout was 1.5. Pups were more likely to receive regurgitations (81%) than the breeding female (14%) or auxiliaries (6%). The breeding male regurgitated mostly to the breeding female and pups, and the breeding female regurgitated primarily to pups. The relative effort of the breeding female was correlated with litter size ( de Kendall = 0.93, P This resource is based on the following source (Northern Prairie Publication 1076): Mech, L. "Standing Over" and "Hugging" in Wild Wolves, Canis lupus
L. David Mech
Abstract: During six summers, I observed "standing over" (SO) and "hugging" in a pack of wild Wolves ( Canis lupus ) habituated to me. In SO, one Wolf positions its groin above a recumbent Wolf's nose. I observed SO among all yearling and older Wolves for 1-180 seconds ( Key Words: Wolf, Canis lupus , behavior, standing over, affection, reproduction. • Bisected state management:
The state will be divided into an eastside and a westside, with separate wolf population goals on each side. When population goals on the eastside are reached, the wolf will be delisted from the state list throughout the state, but will retain protections on the westside as if still listed, until population goals are achieved there as well. It is likely wolves will recolonize eastern Oregon long before western Oregon; therefore, it may be necessary to maintain more strict protections in western Oregon for a longer time. Three phases of management:
Phase I on the eastside, wolves will be managed to achieve a "conservation population"goal of four breeding pairs, at which time wolves will be delisted statewide.
Phase II is a buffer zone while trying to reach a "management population" level of seven breeding pairs on both sides of the dividing line.

White Wolves: A Cry in the Wild II
Benny and Scott launch their raft. White Wolves: A Cry in the Wild II is part of a series of four films produced by the Roger Corman company on one basic theme: a group of teenaged kids from different socio-ecomonic backgrounds, with various attitude problems and the usual teenager acceptance problems, go on a wilderness trek with a guide who tries to shape them up and get them to work as a team. When some sort of tragedy strikes, the teenagers realize that they must work together to get out of trouble, and so they start to bond and face the realities of survival in the wilderness. When things get to their worst point, a white wolf appears and seems to help guide them out of trouble. Benny looks around the group's underground cave campsite. This movie, White Wolves: A Cry in the Wild II , is set in the wilderness areas of the Cascade Mountains in Oregon. As the film opens we see a school bus driving to the base camp and inside are two groups of kids and two teachers about to embark on a two week expedition. The film soon focuses on just one of the groups, the White Wolves, led by their enthusiastic teacher, Jack or Mr. B (Matt McCoy). The rest of the group includes Scott (Mark-Paul Gosselaar), the strongest of the teenagers (especially considering that he must have been about 22 when this was filmed) and a natural leader, Cara (Amy Dolenz) a campus queen type who has a somewhat condescending attitude about the others, Adam (David Moscow) who has a little bit of the class clown in him, but is also lacking in self-confidence, Pandra (Amy O'Neill), Cara's naive younger sister, who was a last minute substitution on the trip, but made to go by her parents so she could spend some "quality time" with Cara, and Benny (Marc Riffon

  • He is a career .271 hitter at the Dome with 4 homers and 16 RBI. Concerning the Dome, Boone has said: "And the Dome ... I love playing there, I really do." I am always stunned to read something like this. He has 25 extra base hits this year which would put him in second place concerning this statistic on the Twins. When the Twins acquired Shannon Stewart in 2003 they were 7.5 games back. They went on to win the division. The Twins are 9 games back now. Boone has won 4 Gold Gloves at second base. That is 8 more Gold Gloves than Luis Rivas has (since Rivas actually has negative Gold Gloves).
Will this be the spark the Twins need? I think the chances are good. This is an upgrade at second base no matter how you slice it. four months away . With this reality, Bell has already stated
"We're going to find out if the numbers still work," Bell said. "We calculated this on beginning work in June, foolishly believing that the Legislature would end on time." Bell hinted that the delay caused by waiting for a special session this fall may collapse the proposed deal entirely.
