Items listed cover topics including foods, food safety, food science, food service management, basic nutrition, dietary management, and nutrition education. Teaching materials listed include: food models, games, kits, videocassettes, and lesson plans. Textbooks and other resources offer ideas for training staff. Child Abuse and Prevention Grants
to Community-Based Family Resource
and Support Programs
The Wisconsin Children’s Trust Fund supports 15 community-based prevention programs that strengthen families and reduce the risk of child abuse and neglect. These programs provide respite care, parenting support programs for fathers, homeless families, and families with children with developmental disabilities, and parent education and support activities for the general population. Located throughout Wisconsin, the community-based family resource programs each receive a Children’s Trust Fund grant of $30,000 yearly for three years. About the Wisconsin Parents Association
Homeschooling in Wisconsin since 1984
Wisconsin Parents Association (WPA) provides encouragement, support, and accurate information about homeschooling, learning resources, and laws that affect homeschoolers.
  • Individuals get their questions answered by calling the WPA voice mail at 608-283-3131 or one of the 15 Regional Coordinators who also put people in touch with homeschooling support groups in their area.
  • The fifth edition of the WPA handbook has 285 pages of essential information that homeschoolers refer to again and again.
  • Over 1,000 homeschoolers attend the annual Home Education Conference which has 75 workshops, a Curriculum Fair, a used book sale, and various social events.
  • Quarterly newsletters and special bulletins keep members informed on developments affecting homeschoolers.
As an inclusive, statewide, nonprofit, grassroots organization, WPA welcomes anyone interested in homeschooling. Since 1984, homeschoolers working together through WPA have succeeded in gaining and maintaining one of the most reasonable homeschooling laws.
