General Information
ARRANGING A PASTORS INSTITUTE OR CREDIT COURSE Please read the following information and then contact the Seminary's Academic Dean if you would like to arrange a pastors institute or a credit course for a group of pastors in your part of the country. Send a prioritized list of your top three or four choices. The men will be contacted in the order that you list them. When a man has agreed to serve, the Academic Dean will notify you. From that point you can make all the necessary arrangements directly with that person. FORMAT OF A SATELLITE PASTORS INSTITUTE Pastors institutes have been arranged in a number of different ways:
1) Some have had two pastors institutes at the same time. One arrangement is to have two men present one of the five parts of their institute each morning (or afternoon) from Monday to Friday. Others have had two institutes presented over three days (three mornings and two afternoons).
2) Some were gluttons for punishment and scheduled the five parts of a pastors institute in one day. This allowed a pastors institute to be completed in one day, but it is not the most productive kind of schedule, and not a favorite of a presenter.

Wisconsin Attorney General Says
NCLB Implementation is Illegal
Wisconsin's attorney general has concluded that the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) the so-called "No Child Left Behind" federal education law is being administered unconstitutionally and illegally in Wisconsin. NEA agrees with Lautenschlager that it's likely that the State of Wisconsin and many of its local school districts already are spending more funds than the federal government provides, and that this amount will grow dramatically over the next few years. Wisconsin Education Association Council, an NEA affiliate, reports "This is the first ruling of its kind in the United States," said Stan Johnson, WEAC's president. "We urge school districts or the state to go to court and correct this injustice." Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported , "The impact of Lautenschlager's opinion is not likely to be clear soon." According to the Journal Sentinel's report, Lautenschlager "wrote that there were three major areas where federal funds were insufficient to cover costs required by the law: a testing program that includes a requirement to test all third- through eighth-graders each year in reading and math; thea costs of implementing sanctions against school that do not meet the law's requirement that they demonstrate annual progress in raising the performance of weaker students; and the cosdt of sufficient funding to 'permit virtually every student in every school to reach 'proficiency' levels on standardized tests.'"

General Education Assessment
Why assess General Education? We assess General Education so that we might improve, increase, and enhance student learning. Period. In Spring and Fall 1999 the General Education Council, in partnership with Assessment Services, pilot tested a multi-method approach to general education assessment at UW-Green Bay. The primary focus? Embedded assessment of UW-Green Bay's general education learning outcomes. This site contains descriptions of the multi-method approach and its components, along with a preliminary report of results. Spring 2001 marked the first "regular" semester of embedded assessment of general education learning outcomes, according to a Learning Outcomes Review Cycle set by the General Education Council. Stay tuned for results.
A Multi-Method Approach to General Education Assessment at UW-Green Bay
Key players : students, faculty members teaching General Education courses, the General Education Council, Assessment Services The following approach to General Education assessment draws upon three methods in its assessment of UW-Green Bay’s General Education learning outcomes The approach integrates two existing assessment methods with a third method that focuses on embedded assessment of the products of student learning, as follows:

Strong academic, technical and life skills are what Wisconsin's business and educational leaders have determined to be necessary skills for students' future success. Wisconsin's School-to-Work system opens the door to all students and helps develop their potential and ability to succeed in the complex, highly technical world we share. Wisconsin's School-to-Work system is the result of a statewide collaboration, centering on students that includes: parents; educators; employers; labor; and local, state and federal governments. School-to-Work (STW) strives to assist students in making the connection between the classroom and the world of work. By combining rigorous school and work-based learning opportunities with enhanced career exploration and guidance, Wisconsin's educational system is developing students with stronger skills so they are better prepared to enroll in a university, enter a technical college or go directly into the workforce. The University of Wisconsin System enthusiastically participates in this exciting collaboration.
