    43. Brian Unwin - Freelance Journalist - Wildlife Index
I am a freelance journalist based in the northeast of England and focussing ongeneral news, industry, travel and wildlife.
    http://website.lineone.net/~bunwin/wildlife_index.htm
WILDLIFE Writing about nature and conservation has been a strong aspect of my whole career - my very first published article written to coincide with National Nature Week in 1963. This continues to be the case - hardly a week passes without national newspapers receiving a story on this subject from me. One which was given particular prominence in The Independent was about Little Egrets nesting for the first time in Britain and Ireland - ten years after I predicted this event in a birdwatching column I used to write for the northern editions of The Daily Telegraph. I still write a weekly birdwatching column for The Northern Echo and over a ten year period I was also responsible for the Wildlife Watch column in The Journal. Some of my Wildlife Watch articles in 1986 landed me the Freelance of the Year title in the subsequent North East Press awards. Freelancing has enabled me to resume contributing regular articles to Bird Watching Magazine. One feature published in 1998 was about how I developed the garden of our seaside house at Whitburn, South Tyneside, to attract migrant birds.
