    http://www.sfu.ca/biology/wildberg/genlinfo.html
What is the CWE? Mission Statement General Information People ... Links Background
In 1993, a collaboration by the Canadian Wildlife Service (CWS), the Natural Science and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and Simon Fraser University was initiated to provide an interface between the mission-oriented research and management policies of the Canadian Wildlife Service and the more theoretical approach to research of the university community. By encouraging this interface, the government agencies would gain access to a broader base of scientific information for government policy and decision making and university researchers would benefit from a broader practical application for the more theoretical ideas which their disciplines generate.
The focal point of this collaboration is the NSERC/CWS Chair of Wildlife Ecology, currently held by Fred Cooke . The Chair brings together a large group of faculty, postdoctoral and gradute-student researchers, working together on several new studies of wildlife ecology, with specializations in behavioural, population and physiological ecology. The main centre of Chair activities is in the Department of Biological Sciences For annual reports of CWE research and activities

There are quite a few books written about New Zealand as a travel destination.
    - Lonely Planet, the travel bible, has titled New Zealand as travel destination 2004!
    - Let's Go Guide New Zealand includes travel tips to Fiji
    - The Rough Guide to New Zealand, informative read
    - Footprint New Zealand Handbook is one of the newest guidebooks
New Zealand is located in the Southern Hemisphere, approximately 2.250km east of Australia, only about 3hrs flight to Sydney. It spans 1,600km from north to south and is made up of the North Island, the South Island, Stewart Island and various other small islands. New Zealand is roughly the same size as Great Britain, yet it has a great diversity of scenery; geysers, sub-tropical rainforests, snow-capped mountains, beaches, bush and much more.
    History
New Zealand is a relatively young country, therefore it's quite fascinating how Maori and European influences have created Aotearoa, which means the country of The Long White Cloud.

If you need to pick up supplies in Chipata there is a Shoprite supermarket, a good butchers shop (Chipata Farm Shop), Barclays and Zambian banks and all manner of other goods suppliers that you may need to stock up on! In Mfuwe village itself, basic groceries only are available, if you are self catering we would advise shopping in Chipata for the duration of your stay in the valley. Should you find it difficult to plan that far ahead, remember our restaurant caters for every hungry mouth and a full menu is available. Fuel If you are driving up, carry as much fuel as possible. There is a BP fuel station here in Mfuwe, they do usually have petrol and diesel, but in case of lack of supply, it is always wise to carry a couple of full jerry cans with your own vehicle. Fuel is obviously more expensive out here as well. Immigration Should you require assistance from customs or immigration officials during your stay in this part of Zambia, offices are available locally at Mfuwe airport or in Chipata town. We can assist you with visa waivers in case you just enter Zambia the day you arrive at the Wildlife Camp.

B ased at our family farm at Gerraquoy, South Ronaldsay
The Orkney Islands’ unique blend of land and marine wildlife and over 5,000 years of culture offers opportunities for memorable life-time sightings in nearly all weather conditions and times of year. Just some of the treasures on offer are sights and sounds of internationally important seabird colonies including puffins, terns, skuas, perhaps glimpses of the rare and elusive otter or corncrake, seas alive with porpoises and sometimes whales, views of the endemic Scottish Primrose and sights of culture spanning back to 3,500 BC. Orcadian Wildlife runs small tailor-made tours from April to October inclusive to share these treasures with our guests. The base for your holiday will be our traditional family farmhouse and small-holding on South Ronaldsay, embellished with a small herd of the rare, placid and beautiful Shetland cattle, the rarest breed in the UK. The farmhouse is situated by a Grimness headland overlooking the nature reserve island of Copinsay, and has easy access to Kirk Geo beach. Gerraquoy literally means “Field of God” from the Norse and we hope you will appreciate why. The island of South Ronaldsay is a southern Orkney isle, which is within easy reach of both mainland Scotland and the surrounding islands.

The Norcross Wildlife Sanctuary was established in 1939 by Arthur D. Norcross. Its present area comprises approximately six thousand acres of wooded hills, lakes and streams. It is maintained by the Norcross Wildlife Foundation, Inc. whose purpose is the conservation of wildlife and the active practice of conservation for the benefit of the public. This includes the collection and propagation of wild plants, the preservation of birds and all forms of animal wildlife and the conservation of land and water.
Plants growing at Tupper Hill are native to the Eastern Seaboard from the Carolinas to Canada. The gardens along the walking trail represent habitats found throughout New England. Native plants can be a valuable food source for birds and animals of our region.
Natural history exhibits are on display in the museums. These exhibits provide a variety of information on plants, animals, insects, and minerals of the northeast. It is the aim of the Norcross Wildlife Foundation to engage in and foster research, education and training in conservation. The Foundation also cooperates with outside groups and individuals interested in natural history and other forms of wildlife conservation.

Botswana, a land of diverse beauties, is ideally located in the heart of southern Africa. Botswana has enjoyed remarkable economic growth since independence. From being one of the poorest countries, Botswana has emerged as one the fastest growing economies in the world. Its natural beauty lies in its wilderness, wildlife and cultural diversity. Hunting and gathering is practised by all tribesmen but is guided by very strict traditional conservation strategies. This cultural heritage has enabled Botswana to preserve vast and diverse species of wildlife and natural resources. At least 17% of Botswana is reserved as parks, which facilitates the protection of the fragile natural environment. Tourism accounts for about 40% of the employment opportunities in Botswana. Among the major tourist attractions are the Okavango Delta, said to be the largest inland delta in the world; Chobe National Park, home of the largest elephant population in the world; the golden sands of the vast Kalahari Desert; the Tuli Block with its rugged terrain and the Moremi Game Reserve. The seasons in Botswana are somewhat irregular. Rains generally start in October or November, and can persist until March or April. There may be long dry spells within that time. Rain tends to fall in short, often violent thundershowers, and generally the greatest amount falls in December, January and February. The best time to visit Botswana is April to October when the days are sunny and not too hot. Evening temperatures drop sharply. During the summer months temperatures can rise to over 40ºC and usually drop to around 25ºC at the night.
