by Mark Silk It was one of those slow-motion stories that begin with an enterprising reporter in the provinces. On May 11, the Austin American-Statesman published religion reporter Kim Sue Lia Perkes’s take-out on the three-year-old practice of Wicca at Fort Hood, the huge Army base in Killeen, Texas. The main story took readers to the celebration of this year’s vernal equinox by 40 female and male witches (mostly active-duty soldiers); explained the nature of Wicca ("a reconstruction of nature worship from tribal Europe and other parts of the world"); and traced its growth in America and its acceptance as a religion by the U.S. military. Perkes reported that Army brass were touchy about discussing their accommodation of neo-paganism, and that at Fort Hood it had elicited an ongoing protest from members of a local conservative Baptist church. There were also sidebars on Wiccan beliefs and on how the stereotype of witches arose in early modern Europe.

Luna's Wiccan Ways
Wicca is a contemporary Pagan religion with roots in the pre-Christian nature worship. Wicca is also called Witchcraft and its practitioners refer to themselves as Witches. Despite the negative publicity associated with the idea of Witches and Witchcraft, Wicca is a peaceful, loving religion.
I have created this page to dispel the stereotypes of Wicca. I have only included basic information about what Wiccans believe. I am currently working on another site that covers more advanced aspects of Wicca.

I personally have never had a problem with anyone because of their beliefs, but I do have a problem with people trying to impose their beliefs on others. I believe in just like some people believe in angels! Wiccans use many different things in practicing their religion. The most valuable thing in a Wiccan's eyes is nature. Everything in nature is precious. Many Wiccans are vegetarians and believe in reincarnation. This is only some peoples views. Not every Wiccan is a vegetarian and not every vegetarian is Wiccan. Many Wiccans cast spells but again not all of them do. Those that do use many different things to aid them in making their spells stronger. For example, if someone wanted to relieve stress they might take a bath with Jasmine oil in the water, and a blue candle burning. Spells don't have to include words!

SAMHAIN - 31st OCTOBER

Samhain, or Halloween, is the death festival, marking the descent of Winter. The leaves are falling from the trees in drifts, and life is drawn away from the surface of the earth, and descends deep into the earth. Life is now in the roots and bulbs of plants which rest over the Winter. The Horned God who was Lord of Life and the Wild Greenwood has now truly taken His throne as Lord of the Underworld, the dread Lord of Shadows, the comforter of souls. The earth prepares for sleep and draws energy inwards. This is a time for introspection, as we too draw our energy within and prepare for the Winter. The Earth is becoming cold, and barren, and we see Her as the Cailleach, the Crone, the Wise One. She is the Dark Mother who devours the God that She may give birth to Him again. Her womb is also the tomb, and the Underworld, and the Horned God thus resides within Her womb over the Winter months.

By John Gibson It's all around us, and it's getting stronger. The Occult, in the forms of Wicca, paganism, Ceremonial Magick and other nasty deceptions of the kingdom of darkness, is spreading its tentacles across cyberspace, and finding plenty of new victims. John Gibson, a former practitioner of the black arts, explains how he promoted Wicca and paganism online, and how Christ mercifully saved him with the grace of conversion. Read how the hidden world of "Magick is teaching many people to point and click their way down the wide, well paved road to hell.
I wasn't always a pagan.
I was actually born a Methodist, and was baptized into Christ by the Methodist Church. I remember going to church on Sunday mornings to go to Sunday school. I remember that one of the biggest reasons why I was there was the fact that they served really great cookies and juice. None of the early lessons stand out in my mind.
My mind goes blank as to whether or not I was taught any doctrine or dogma in my Sunday school classes. I remember acting out Bible stories, but I don't remember any teaching that went along with them. I can remember bits and snatches, like when my third grade Sunday school teacher acted out the temptation of Christ in the desert. I can also remember some snatches of the confirmation class that I took in sixth grade, but nothing really stands out as far as teachings.

Current Variations in Wiccan Liturgical Structure
Almost all Traditions start with the participants doing some sort of personal purifications (herbal baths, fasting, etc.) before the ritual actually gets underway. These purifications are not prompted by a sense of impurity or sinfulness on the part of the participants, but rather reflect a need to begin focusing consciousness, clearing away irrelevant thoughts, and showing respect for the Goddess and God, as well as fellow coveners, much as members of many other religions do before attending services. Some Traditions have the almost universally used altar outside this circle when the rite begins; others place it inside either at the center or near one of the Quarter Points.

156. Sannion's Sanctuary - Wiccan Fatwa
Most of the wiccan rituals and beliefs are just watered down forms of Thelema (iethe If they use Pagan and wiccan as synonymous terms for instance,
http://www.winterscapes.com/sannion/wiccan_fatwa.htm
Wiccan Fatwa also read: An Open Letter to Wiccans I have declared a fatwa against Wiccans. Now, some may point out that I have no actual authority to do this. After all, I'm not a Moslem. And even if I were, I still wouldn't have the authority to declare a fatwa , since you have to be a mufti or scholar of Islamic Law in order to do so. Further, for it to be binding, a fatwa must be upheld by a court of mujtahids , although this last point is no longer true among Shiite Moslems, who do not require the consensus of the court. Obviously, I'm not a scholar of Islamic Law, or a jurist of the mujtahid . But I think people will grant me some leeway here, since my task - eradicating the evil of Wicca - is a noble one. So anyway, back to my fatwa . I've tried reasoning with Wiccans. Doesn't work. They just fall back on their preset dogmas, and start repeating themselves like robots. It's fun to bring up an idea that exists outside their orderly boxes, and watch the sparks fly as their brains overload. We have to do something Whenever someone says that they believe in the Gods, and then goes on to say that they're all really just different ways of seeing the same God - kick their ass. There is such incredible diversity and multiplicity in the world. Why shouldn't this be reflected in the divine authors of the world? Especially kick their ass if they say this, and then deny the existence of Satan or Jesus. You can't have it both ways, folks. Either this divine conglommarate mish-mash Deity includes them all, or it doesn't. It can't just be the Gods you like though.

http://www.forerunner.com/champion/X0042_What_is_the_Wiccan_r.html
What is the Wiccan religion?
Many of the ancient pagan and Mother Earth cult religions required human sacrifice. Although most witches today deny using human or animal blood sacrifices, cases of witches who used blood letting and sacrifice are replete throughout history even to the present day. Modern 20th century Wiccans draw their religious ideology from the Mother Earth cults of the Celtic and Nordic peoples of pre-Christian Europe. The word "Wiccan" first appears in an early manuscript of an Anglo-Saxon scribe in the alliterative phrase: wyccan and wælcyrian, "witches and valkyries."1 The word in Old English has masculine and feminine endings and denotes both men and women using magic arts. The word "victim" in English has the same derivation as wycca and originally meant a living human being "set apart" to be sacrificed to a deity.2 The religion is traced to ancient Celtic and Northern German people who practiced human sacrifice. The Roman historian, Tacitus, records that the ancestors of the English speaking peoples, the Angles, sacrificed to the Mother Earth Goddess. In his Germania, "On the Origin and Geography of Germany," Tacitus describes this gruesome ritual as "a ceremony performed by slaves who are immediately afterward drowned in the lake." Some of the victims, astonishingly preserved in peat bogs, are on display in museums in Denmark.3 According to a recent Ms. magazine article: "Witchcraft is about wholeness, about celebrating one's intimacy with the Goddess and the earth, who are one and the same.... [T]here are 200,000 women and men practicing the Old Religion in the United States. The Institute for the Study of American Religion in Santa Barbara, California, claims that Witchcraft and Paganism are the fastest growing religions in the country, countering the rise of Christian fundamentalism."5
