All spells of a constructive nature should be performed when the moon is bright, that is, waxing to full. These would include healing, sorcery designed to bring luck or success, fertility rites and charms, protection, counter magick, and divination.
IN THE WANING
All spells of a destructive or banishing nature should be performed when the moon is dark, that is waning to new. These would include banishment of negativity, binding, certain works of necromancy, and agricultual magic designed to ward off pests and disease.
Help to keep this site online and please visit our sponsors. PAGAN SPELLS AND RITUAL And here lies the backbone of this site: Pagan Ritual. Listed below are various Pagan rites, Wiccan rituals, Witchcaft spells and Wiccan chants. Many are from our Book of Shadows, some are from books, all are quite effective. The one thing I must emphasize with these spells and rites using Wicca, Witchcraft or other Pagan paths is that one can not expect to light some incense, ramble off a few words, and see results! Quite honestly , this page should be referenced for the learned individual. Many fine Pagan Books are for sale here and elsewhere for the truly committed. Note: The consecration techniques listed here are very effective but are not our own, we hold consecration as a very dear and personal thing.

http://www.joellessacredgrove.com/wiccantraditions.html
This is a listing of some of the many different branches of Wicca. There are so many that it would be almost impossible to list them all. I've included those that (I feel) have had the most impact on the Craft today. Most new wiccan traditions can be traced back to one or several of these. After each listing I've provided the addresses of several websites (whenever possible) in case you'd like to know more about that particular branch.
The Alexandrian tradition comes out of the coven started by Alex Sanders in England. Alex claims he was initiated by his grandmother in 1933, but many Alexandrian rituals are almost identical to Gardnerian ones, with a little more emphasis on ceremonial magic. The tradition's rituals, while basically Gardnerian, are modified with many Judeo-christian and Ceremonial Magick elements. Covens work skyclad. The eight Sabbats are observed and the Goddess and God are observed. Sanders did much to popularize the Craft but perhaps one of his best acts was to initiate Stewart Farrar. Farrar later formed his own coven and went his own way. Mary Nesnick, an American who was initiated into both Gardnerian and Alexandrian traditions, combined them in 1972 and created a new tradition called Algard. http://www.angelfire.com/realm2/amethystbt/wiccansymbolsandmeaning.html
Wiccan Symbols and Meanings
Ankh: The Ankh is the Egyptian symbol of eternal life. The ankh consists of a circle on top of a "T". the circle is a bit elongated. Circle: The circle is a symbol known worldwide in many different cultures. It represents the woman, eternity, cycles, seasons. It is the representation of the wheel of the year, the wheel of fortune, and the wheel of life. The circle is also a term used when one does ritual since one "casts a circle" between the worlds. This is really not the case. When one casts a circle, it is actually a sphere. One must be protected both from above and below. The circle is equidistant in all directions that pass through its center, and therefore focuses energy like a radar dish...right into the center. This is why the circle is a powerful symbol throughout the world. Crescent Moon: The crescent moon is a symbol of the Goddess. The crescent moon can be either waxing (going towards the full moon), or waning going towards the new moon). The waxing moon is great for doing magickal workings that have to do with growth, creativity, etc. The waning moon is for the opposite, for example, banishing negativity. The crescent moons also symbolize two of the aspects of the Goddess. The waxing moon symbolizes the maiden, and the waning moon symbolizes the crone. Faery Star: The faery star is a 7 pointed star used, I believe, to attract the faery folk.

115. Grove Of Royal Palms
A gay wiccan circle in Miami, FL, specializing in male mysteries, male deity, and forming a positive gay pagan identity.
http://www.geocities.com/royalpalmsgrove/
Why A Wiccan/Pagan Circle for Gay Men?
Traditional Wicca can come across as very heterocentric. It usually has a heavy emphasis on male-female polarity, and while most covens and groups accept gay members, many gays and Lesbians feel somewhat left out.
Women have had Dianic Wicca for decades. In their circles, they are free to discuss and express their spirituality as women. Isn't it time that gay men founded a tradition where we can reclaim our spirituality and delve into the Male Mysteries without the specter of the old heteropatriarchy hovering overhead?
Some gay men can work with boy-girl polarity, interpreting it in a non-sexual way, but most find it alienating. Even those who can work with it may also want a space where they can experiment with other currents that are more directly related to their own life experience. We deserve and claim our own spiritual space, on our own terms.
The Grove of the Royal Palms consists of a group of gay men in South Florida who come together to study, work, and create ritual. We believe we can achieve balance with each other and with the Universe without having to necessarily mold ourselves to heterosexist norms. We acknowledge the duality of the Lord and the Lady. The Lord represents our Father, Brother, and Lover , whereas the Lady is our Mother, Sister and Friend . But for us the qualities of the God and Goddess are archetypal rather than literal absolutes that must be reflected in circle. We see this duality within ourselves and thus are at odds with other traditions that only see their corresponding roles reflected through their gender.

Back to Home Page or Contents Page or Goddess and Witchcraft or Index Wiccan Mythos T his is a term designating the underlying spirituality of Wicca reflected in the seasonal rites of Nature, along with the metaphors linked with the lunar reverence. The essence of this mythos is based upon the Wheel of the Year , which designates the sabbats of the Wiccan religion. The Wheel possesses the foundation of the Wiccan belief in ever-returning cycles, an aspect also linking the Wiccan belief to reincarnation . Death and the survival of the soul or spirit are important elements of the Mystery Teachings contained within the Old Religion. Since Wicca is essentially an agrarian Mystery Tradition every aspect of plowing, planting, growing, and harvesting has symbolic meaning in the journey of the soul. These agricultural Mystery Teachings are involved with loss, return, death, and rebirth. The death and rebirth concepts are perhaps best depicted in the ancient myths of Demeter and Persephone that illustrate the foundation of the Wiccan concepts to the descent of the Goddess into the Underworld. This mythos is found in the early civilizations of Mesopotamia. The Agricultural Mysteries are also involved with transforming and changing the states of consciousness. (see

1) The views expressed on these pages are my own personal views and should not be considered as the be-all and end-all. If you are just starting your journey on the path of Wicca, I suggest that you visit as many Wiccan sites as possible and gather as much knowledge as possible. By far the easiest way of finding related sites on the web is to use your favorite search program and simply look for the words "WICCA", "WITCHCRAFT", "PAGAN", etc. Another is to use one of the Web-Circles that are on my "Web-rings" page. Remember one thing above all: Keep an open mind.
2) The majority of the graphics on these pages have been created by me. Some have been copied from other pages, but only where they have said that they may be used on personal home pages.
3) All information contained in these pages is here for everyone to read, enjoy and use. I have no objection to you using any of my text or graphics, as long as you follow one simple rule: If you use anything on your own web-page, please include some kind of acknowledgment and a link to my homepage.

118. An Ex-Wiccan Speaks - Testimony Of Donalyn Vaughn
Why does Wicca have the drawing power it has? Why is the ancient paganism behindit enjoying a modern revival? Donalyn Vaughn, former wiccan, answers these
http://www.spiritwatch.org/pagtest1.htm
the Spirit Watch In And Out Of Wicca - A Former Wiccan Speaks By Donalyn Vaughn In And Out Of Wicca: An Ex-Wiccan Speaks - Click Here To Listen By Real Audio H ow I got involved in paganism is all too common, I'm afraid. I was raised in a churched home. By that, I mean that we went to church but didn't live any differently than my friends who did not go to church. I was very active in the church growing up and as a teen. We attended the First Christian Church (independant), and I was active in youth group, Sunday School, choir. I was there everytime the doors were open. But I didn't have any strong background at home. I had always been fascinated by magic. I started off innocently enough reading my horoscope (my mom did this, and didn't see anything wrong with it). My favorite movies and TV shows as a kid were all about witches and magic, now I was living out my fantasy. Just like millions of people can drink a beer and never get addicted to alcohol, millions of people can watch a show like Bewitched and never think anything of it, but some people have a weakness in this area that leaves them vulnerable. I was one of those people. I had many experiences as a child that I know opened that door for me, and made me vulnerable. The pagans I met said I had a gift of the sight that ran in my family. I know now that Satan used my gifts that God had given me. All of the little openings into the occult in my childhood (the movies, TV shows, games I played, etc) opened a door, that Satan used to get me to serve him rather than God. One movie that really stuck out in my mind as starting the whole mess was a movie I watched that starred Melissa Sue Anderson as a bad witch, and another child actress as a good witch. I didn't know it at the time but it was all about Wicca, and that movie affected me greatly, and I believed opened the door to my fascination with witchcraft.
