: Physical Education Characteristics Our major in Physical Education, with concentrations in teacher certification, athletic training and fitness/wellness, offers graduates a variety of career options. The teacher certification program prepares students for Kindergarten through 12th grade public school teaching with small classes and hands-on experience in public school classrooms. The athletic training program directly involves students in their career preparation by enabling students to develop professional skills in the training room and on the playing field based on the concepts and knowledge that they learn in the classroom. The wellness/fitness program incorporates courses that develop administrative skills with coursework in the health/wellness/nutrition areas to prepare students for careers at YMCAs, health/fitness clubs and corporate wellness programs.
