126. How To Buy A Pembroke Welsh Corgi
Advice from the Pembroke welsh Corgi Club of America.
http://www.pembrokecorgi.org/buycorgi.htm
GUIDE TO BUYING A PEMBROKE WELSH CORGI
Think about why you want a dog.
Corgis live 12 to 15 years and over that time span you will invest a fair amount of time, energy, and expense. If you are not prepared to make this commitment, would another less demanding animal be more suitable?
Who will be caring for this dog?
Do they have experience? Will they need help? If the new owner is to be a young child, are the parents prepared to do the bulk of the puppy care and training? There are many books available on dog care and training which will help you in your search and with daily care after the purchase.
Think about what you want your Corgi to do.
What function will he have in your home? Will he be a companion for a child or an elderly person? Will he be expected to do farm work, or play football with three teenagers? What temperament would best suit this function? Often the question of show versus pet quality arises. The most important concerns for you as a puppy buyer are the puppy's health and temperament. Show quality is often determined by size of ears and the shape of the feet, things that are subjective and not important in determining a dog's value as a companion.
Look at as many Corgis as you can.

(C)opyright 1994-2003 Mark H. Nodine
Introduction
This course is one suitable for beginners. The main emphasis of the course is in developing conversational skills in Welsh as it is currently spoken (as contrasted with teaching the forms needed for understanding literary Welsh). The material is an indirect descendent of the Cymraeg Byw movement of the 1960s and 1970s. This course does not assume a general proficiency in learning languages, nor any previous background in Welsh. The course is also developed in such a way that it can be distributed either through an ASCII medium wrapped as a setext, or made available in HTML on the World Wide Web Geraint Jones (Rhydychen) has written answers for common questions about Welsh and Wales This course is still under construction. Please report any problems to me via e-mail.

WELSH RECIPES
This section simply provides a few interesting, traditional recipes. The ingredients are usually given in British measures. No responsibility can be accepted by the publisher for the accuracy of any material or for the results achieved. As with most traditional forms of cooking, the ingredients are approximate - every good cook adjusts this way or that to make the result exactly to their taste. If you are going to impress your friends, make sure you try these recipes quietly on your own first!
For high quality crafts and gifts made in or distributed from Wales, visit the Shop in Wales . Decorative and useful items, delivered anywhere in the world.
Glamorgan Sausages
While normal sausages are made with meat, these are made mainly from grated cheese mixed with breadcrumbs, herbs and chopped leeks or onions. The recipe varies from place to place, and even from day to day, so they are sometimes quite spicy, and sometimes not. Use egg yolk to bind the mixture and roll into small sausages. The "skin" is made by rolling in flour, dipping in egg white and then rolling in breadcrumbs.

131. Irvine Welsh
a review of Ecstasy
http://www.ucalgary.ca/UofC/students/VOX/Books/welsh1.htm
Irvine Welsh
Ecstasy
(Jonathan Cape/Random House)
Irvine Welsh's name doesn't seem to be on exactly everybody's lips these days, but chances are if you hang around the trendy places and the self-professed hip for approximately three minutes, you'll likely hear the name of this deeply unpleasant Scottish man. His four books are selling like clappers, his first novel, Trainspotting, has become an international best-selling film, appealing to the kids hungry for another Pulp Fiction. And he's making records with Primal Scream, although chances are they've just found some cheap exoneration of their sickly, drug-addled lifestyles in each other. Welsh's popularity on the North American continent has been a source of perplexity for three years now. His work is so riddled with deep Midlothian accents that, even as a Scot, one could find it laborious at times. At the same time, his work has been panned with malice aforethought by hacks the length and breadth of this continent, whom obviously became incensed and frustrated at their lack of understanding of foreign accents. Having said all that, it's hard not to like Irvine Welsh. His writing is documentary in style, a gritty, low-light photo of a generation of losers who've not a clue where they're going except that it's higher. Ecstasy, is his tip to the rave generation, which he is most certainly not a part of, for he's far too old, and those tight skimpy T-shirts simply were not made for big lads like him. If he was absent from the raves however, he must surely have sat at home and tinkered with the pills, for he takes great pains to describe (and thus glorify) the highs achieved therein. If he was guilty of making heroin highs sound a bit too tasty in Trainspotting, he's really gone over the top with the fashion drug Ecstasy in this book. His drawn out, often chapter-long recountings of the super-euphoric love-thy-neighbour effects of E make it sound like something we should all be having a bash at.

ANNOUNCEMENTS AND NEWS: Bulletin Sneak Peek! Dues Renewals Processed for 2005 Study on Cardigan color genetics
The CWCCA is the parent club for the Cardigan Welsh Corgi breed, and is a member of the American Kennel Club. As our official homepage, we hope this site is able to provide you with useful information about the breed.
Cardigan Welsh Corgis ("the Corgi WITH a tail") are one of the oldest known breeds. They are believed to have been in existence in Wales for over 3,000 years, and were first imported to the United States in 1931. Cardigans make a delightful companion and working farm, show, or performance dog. They are NOT a breed for everyone, however, and we strongly suggest educating yourself fully about the breed before making a decision to add a Cardigan to your family.
