    This course will be offered over a period of 13 weeks and is a 45 hour 3 credit graduate course. During the last few weeks of the course you will be refining your final project and there will be no additional modules.

    Can it actually be seven years since Bernie Dodge first presented his idea for a Web-based problem solving model that promoted collaboration and higher-level thinking? Amazingly it has. Along the way many practitioners have dabbled in WebQuests, some more successfully than others. The best Quests have always stuck closely to Dodge's original formula for WebQuest design, and these are the kinds of Quests I sought to identify for you here. Quests are not scavenger hunts or scrap books or virtual versions of worksheets. They are so much more than these. The collections I offer you today will add to your cache of teaching resources by volumes. I opted not to include the old faithful "how to" sites and definitive collections of the past in the hopes of offering you some new resources you may not have been aware of. As teachers you are busy enough and these sites don't ask you to reinvent the wheel. Just find what approximates your needs and adapt it to your classroom.     Colonel Kim A. Bowling is the commander of the Air Force Institute for Advanced Distributed Learning (AFIADL). Bowling directs the Air Force’s largest educational institution and oversees the development of Air Force Advanced Distributed Learning policy, programs and technology. Following commission through Officer Training School in 1980, Bowling began duties with the Air Force Office of Special Investigations, where she served in a variety of positions at base and headquarters level, including command of an AFOSI detachment. Within the education and training community, Bowling held positions within Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps, Air Command and Staff College and Squadron Officer School, which included command of a student squadron and vice commandant. Bowling’s most recent assignment was deputy commander of the 314th Mission Support Group, Little Rock Air Force Base, AR.Read the Full Story Intercultural Internet-Based Learning: Know Your Audience and What They Value As the internet-based learning (IBL) market becomes increasingly global, understanding differing educational values and cultural expectations could provide an important competitive edge for providers (universities, publishing houses, and corporate training entities). How each of person determines "good" or "quality" instruction is to a large degree founded on what educational values that person holds. These values are primarily shaped by (1) cultural norms, (2) the philosophy(s) of learning to which people adhere, and (3) a person's personal preferences for learning. Make sure you check out an Interview with Bernie Dodge Why should I use a WebQuests with my students? I have found them to be one of the best tools in teaching! First, my students were just thrilled to even get near the computer so this already had their attention in utilizing a WebQuest. Next, I have been amazed at the learning that goes on! The students are not only learning how to research on the internet (which is in itself quite important in this day) but they working together, problem solving, and most WebQuests are interdisciplinary. There is usually a finished product at the end that they are quite proud of and have worked hard over several hours, days or maybe even weeks depending on the WebQuest and your lab availability. Lastly, the teacher becomes the facilitator and the students take the lead in learning and teaching which is what we desire in Constructivist learning What is Constructivism?

    Introduction
    A web-based tool that has excited a lot of teachers in the last two yearsis the webquest. Developed by Prof. BernieDodge (http://edweb.sdsu.edu/People/BDodge/BDodge.html) at San DiegoState University, it is a way to focus the internet-based activities oflearners so that they get both structure and direction, but still havevarying degrees of freedom to explore web resources. In the article WebQuest (http://edweb.sdsu.edu/courses/edtec596/about_webquests.html), Prof. Dodgedistinguishes between short term and long term webquests. He then providescritical attributes for webquests, which he says should contain: an introduction that sets the stage, a task that is doable and interesting, a setof information sources needed to complete the task, a description of the process the learners should go through in accomplishing the task,some guidance on how to organize the information acquired, and a conclusion

    Gavin Dudeney and Nicky Hockly, Educational Consultants, Spain As more students gain access to the Internet, there is growing pressure on teachers to help their students use this valuable resource as an effective study tool. Webquests are just one way in which teachers can help. Defining a webquest
    Bernie Dodge of San Diego State University was one of the first people to attempt to define and structure this kind of learning activity. According to him, a webquest is "an inquiry-oriented activity in which some or all of the information that learners interact with comes from resources on the Internet..." This definition has been refined over the years, and adapted for various different disciplines. Philip Benz (See further reading) describes a webquest as follows: " A "WebQuest" is a Constructivist approach to learning (...). Students not only collate and organize information they've found on the web, they orient their activities towards a specific goal they've been given, often associated with one or more roles modeled on adult professions."
