FREESTYLE SKIING
It's Flashdance meets Top Gun, with funky flips and spunky splits up in the wild blue yonder BY ANGIE CANNON

As a kid, Eric Bergoust idolized Evel Knievel. He'd jump off the chimney at his family's house in Missoula, Mont., landing on a pile of mattresses. He flipped off the fences of horse corrals. Took a dive off a 60-foot bridge into a river. "Standing at the top, you get a chuckle like, 'Whoa, man, I'm pretty nuts,' " says Trace Worthington, an aerial legend who retired four years ago at the ripe old age of 28, after suffering symptoms of vertigo. "If you hit a good jump, and everything feels cool, you are flying. It's self-controlled flight with no parachute. You're thinking, 'I'm one of the craziest, yet most controlled athletes in winter sports.' " Frat females.
