Registration Forms Return to: Student Rec home Sport Clubs Vanderbilt Water Polo Club Purpose The Vanderbilt Water Polo Club is a coed club sport organization. The club water polo program is open to any Vanderbilt student or staff member, regardless of age, sex, race, or religious affiliation. We accept players of any ability level, including beginners. We generally play as a coed team, however, if we have enough participants of each sex, we will try to participate in a few men's only and women's only games with other schools. We are not a swim club and do not teach competitive swimming. The ability to swim well is an important part of the sport so you must be a strong swimmer to participate. We do a good amount of swim conditioning and will help you get into shape to play water polo. Practice/Competition We compete against other colleges and universities such as UT, The University of Florida, Florida State University, and Ohio State University, to name a few. We travel once or twice each semester, and we try to have several home games and a home tournament each year. The highlight of our spring season is usually our trip to the Tulane University Mardi Gras tournament in New Orleans in early February. We practice three times a week: 7 - 8:30pm Tuesdays and Thursdays along with a 1:00 - 3:00pm practice on Sundays..

Sports Centre Highgate's approach to sport reflects the school's aim of encouraging all pupils to explore their talents and interests in the widest sense. Sport plays an important part in the life of the School and the wide ranging programme offers an extensive choice of sporting activity to all pupils, whether they are aiming for sporting excellence or simply enjoyment through the appreciation of fitness exercise and recreation. For a School located in London, Highgate is very fortunate to be able to offer its pupils and extended school family such outstanding sports facilities. The 20 acres of playing fields close to the school allow for nine Soccer pitches, three Rugby pitches, two athletics tracks, three Cricket squares and six all-weather outdoor cricket nets. The recently refurbished Tennis court area now provides a large multi purpose all weather surface for the learning of general sports skills. The close proximity of Hampstead Heath provides a splendid outdoor area for Cross Country and Orienteering. The magnificent indoor facilities of the Mallinson Sports Centre include a 25 metre Swimming Pool, Indoor Cricket net Hall, a Main Sports Hall (36mx20m), a Weights Suite, two Squash Courts and eighteen Eton Fives courts. There is a tradition gymnasium (32mx10m) which is equipped for general games and gymnastics. There are ample changing facilities to for both Highgate pupils and visiting teams.
