9-26-05: Proposed levy adjustments for 2006-07 school year
The State of Minnesota determines how much funding school districts are allowed to levy. Several years ago, the State assumed a large portion of the local school tax burden by using State funds (income and sales taxes) instead of the property tax. This past legislative session, a portion of the increase in funding for schools was shifted back to the property tax.

Our technology department did a great job upgrading our site. I am sure you will enjoy it and find the information very helpful. As you are aware, we have an excellent group of staff members who genuinely care about our students and our communities. For the past two years, our theme has been; “Every single day, every single moment of the day, all staff members will help all children learn so that each child is better off than they were before their interaction with us.” That challenge is still here today, and you hear people talking about it all the time. In addition, our strategic planning group emphasized the importance of this statement and concept. You can count on us continuing to focus on having a positive impact on every child every day. As we begin this 2005-2006 school year, we hired fourteen new staff members. Each person went through a rigorous interview process as we searched for “the best of the best”. We had a large number of applicants for every position, because people want to work in our school district and be part of our communities. The attitude, atmosphere, and welcoming nature of all our school buildings and staff members is well known throughout the state and attracts top quality applicants.

The Washington Advocacy Day is a joint activity of CoSN and the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE). First-time participants attend a two-hour “Public Policy Boot Camp” on how to effectively advocate for education technology with legislators.
