Overview: Volunteers have the option of 2 weeks of Spanish courses. Spanish classes run for 4 hours daily and they involve one on one tuition based upon skill level. Implemented into the course structure are useful phrases and words that you will encounter and require on your Volunteering experience. It is highly recommended that you take advantage of the Spanish classes to ensure your enjoyment of the program, as well as the maximization of your contribution to the children in need. When not volunteering with the children, weekend activities such as hiking, biking and canoeing will ensure that you experience the adventurous side of Guatemala. One weekend of adventure is included in the project placement fee. Field Conditions: Living with local families in comfortable but basic accommodation allows for an enriching cultural experience and the valuable opportunity to practice Spanish! All accommodation provided is private and has hot showers. Volunteers can choose to live with a family by themselves or with up to 3 other Volunteers. The local family provides three home cooked meals daily. Long term Volunteers can arrange separate accommodation with other Volunteers if preferable.

Welcome to IHEA.COM Quick Links: About IHEA Contact IHEA HE Journal Archives Hunter Education Video Series Hunting Regulation Links Incident Reports Instructor Resources Join the IHEA Partner Industry Links Partner Organization Links Replacement Hunter Ed. cards Site Map State / Provincial Info IHEA is the official organization representing the interests of 69 state, provincial, and federal hunter education coordinators, and 70,000 hunter education instructors who teach hunter safety, ethics, and conservation to approximately 750,000 students each year.
State fish and game agencies began offering hunter safety programs in 1949. Since then, more than 35 million people have been certified. The hunter safety program has grown, and it is now known as the Hunter Education Program. Hunter safety is still a primary concern, but hunter ethics, wildlife management, survival, and other topics are important parts of the course as well.
Hunter education has helped in many ways. Hunting incidents have declined dramatically, hunter behavior has improved, and many species of wildlife have been restored to abundance with hunter's dollars.
If you are a new hunter, or want to learn about firearms and gun safety, you have come to the right site. IHEA member agencies also offer programs for experienced hunters who want to become more proficient hunters and conservationists.

Sept. 08, 2004 A big “Thank You” to Muldoon Marketing Inc. for their generous donation of pens to the Literacy Council of Durham Region! Get On-Line with Alpharoute AlphaRoute is an on-line literacy learning environment with four separate but virtually linked learning areas. You can have a tutor and work with a computer. This will help your skills. You can use the computers at the Council office. Alpharoute lets you learn new skills and meet your needs. 1 out of 5 adults in Durham region needs help with reading and writing. Based on the International Adult Literacy survey Literacy is a ‘Use it or lose it skill’ Without regular use a person’s literacy skills decreases over time. This means that someone who struggled through school and did not use any of the skills for many years would find it very difficult to read and write at a level necessary for many daily tasks.

Whatever your case, by traveling and working in a new land, you'll have the chance to immerse yourself in the culture and meet people on their own terms, rather than experiencing it as a tourist would.

Sorry, your browser doesn't support Java(tm). Volunteer in Eastern Europe on three very special projects. You can teach conversational English to ambitious Polish students and adults in various settings throughout the year. Volunteers are needed to provide care, companionship and homework help for children from dysfunctional families at an after-school shelter. Along with tutoring English skills, your help is also needed to provide care, companionship and assistance with art and cooking classes to youth and adults with physical and/or mental disabilities
Teaching English language skills will help ensure your students' futures and working with "at-risk" children and adults will make a significant difference in their lives by providing the attention and stimulation they need and deserve.
Demonstrate the great value of people-to-people service. Choose a volunteer program during the school year, or teach English at summer camps. Play, study and read with local students discover your "inner child" in a friendly and historic European community.
