General Information 4-H Youth Program Kids can find out about the following opportunities available for young people through 4-H:
  • 4-H Clubs are organized informal educational groups composed of five or more members, 9-19 years of age and managed by two or more organizational leaders. Clubs have elected officers, hold monthly meetings and develop an annual program plan, including 4-H projects and community service. Cloverbud Clubs are small neighborhood clubs for youth 5-8 years of age, led by one or more adults. The Cloverbud Clubs meet twice monthly to work on short, fun learning activities. Special Interest Programs provide short term project workshops open to all young people in the area. Projects usually include youth leadership, public speaking, and veterinary science. As interests arise, they may organize additional special interest groups.

R. Michael Amyx, Executive Director - Ext. 3302. Mike became VML's executive director in 1980 and is the fourth person to hold the position. He has 34 years of local government experience, including serving as a city manager, an assistant city manager and a senior staff member with a state municipal league (Kansas). In addition, he was executive director of the Kentucky Municipal League for five years prior to coming to Virginia. He holds a master's in public administration, as well as a law degree from the University of Kansas. He has served on the National League of Cities Board of Directors and is a past chair of the state league executive directors' organization.
