Is your teen troubled?
My Troubled Teen is a directory of teen boarding schools, private schools, boot camps, military schools, residential treatment centers, wilderness programs, or Christian programs. Each of these programs vary in the level of therapy and services that they provide to teens. Need help with your child? Has your teen drastically changed his/her behavior recently? Does your child suffer from ADD, ADHD, ODD, Learning Disabilities, Hyperactivity, or Emotional Abuse? Are you having problems with drug and alcohol abuse, disruptive behavior, lack of respect, talking back, or sneaking out or cutting class? Are you ready to give up? We Can Solve Your Problems, Call Now! Who We Are... My Troubled Teen is a directory of troubled teen programs and schools located in North America. Our goal is to help you in your search for a program to fit the specific needs of your child. We are not a referral service like so many copy-cat sites you may have visited on the Internet. Referral services are paid a commission if your child enrolls in the school or program that they recommended you to. These commission can be as high as $3000 per enrollment. My Troubled Teen feels that this is not an ethical practice and could possibly lead to a child being referred to the wrong program just for a higher commission.

Private vs. Public Schools: What's the Difference?
(Page 1 of 3) Your goal is to find a school that will meet your child's needs. But how do you choose between a public school and a private school? By Victoria Thorp and Jesse James, GreatSchools.net Staff
Cost
Public schools cannot charge tuition. They are funded through federal, state and local taxes. When you pay your taxes, you are paying for your child's education and the education of other children in your community. Private schools cost money. Private schools do not receive tax revenues, but instead are funded through tuition, fundraising, donations and private grants. According to the National Association of Independent Schools, the median tuition for private day schools in the United States is close to $12,000 for grades 1 to 3, $13,000 for grades 6 to 8 and $15,000 for grades 9 to 12. The median tuition for boarding schools is $12,000 for grades 1 to 3, $27,000 for grades 6 to 9, and $28,000 for grades 9 to 12. Parochial schools generally charge somewhat less.

Parental Involvement In Teen Education
Studies show time and time again that children do better when their parents are involved with their school and education. That doesn't change once our kids are teens. Once a child hits the high school years, a parent's role in their education changes. No longer is helping out on field trips or in the classroom a requirement. In fact, many teens would likely view an over-involvement from Mom or Dad as an intrusion and an embarrassment. Still there are ways we can remain actively involved in our teen's education from arms length, such as joining their school's Parent Advisory Council or equivalent. For More Information About Teen Runaways, Click Here. On a more personal level, there is a vital place for parents in their teen's schooling at home, says education professor, Dr. Allison Preece. "We can support our adolescents and teenagers as they move into junior and senior high school the way we did when they were younger, by keeping the lines of communication open. We can talk to them about what it's like, what they're experiencing, enjoying and struggling with." For More Information About Teen Anger, Click Here.

Boarding in Britain

With the rise of the Harry Potter series, the prefects, uniforms and house competitions of British boarding schools have become as familiar to Americans as apple pie. For a small group of University of Virginia graduates, they have become the stuff of daily life. The UK Fellows program places graduating fourth- or fifth-year students in seven boarding schools throughout Scotland, England and Wales, where they spend a year or two, typically performing some combination of teaching, coaching and tutoring. to a number of boarding schools, including Fettes College, a UK Fellows school whose staff like to think that Rowling drew some of her inspiration locally. Travel is only one aspect of the UK Fellow experience. While schools vary in location and setting, in size and structure, the intensity of the experience seems common for UK Fellows, as boarding school life is, by nature, intense. School events, such as concerts, drama productions, art exhibitions, house debating championships and sports fixtures (games, in American), squeeze into those afternoon and evening hours not used by long days of classes and sports practices. Fellows typically will have scheduled days or nights on duty in boarding houses, and the ambitious will also take advantage of frequent school trips or house outings to the theatre or ballet, to play laser tag or go out to dinner with pupils. Private Schools
Private School Directory Advantages of Private Schools
Who should choose where ones child attends school? Who should choose the forms of schooling made available to families? These questions have been an issue for many years in and outside of our government and culture. We see the rich and their private schools and how they seem to be more advanced than those in public schools. We also see how private schools often have newer editions of text books. These are just a few many advantages of private prep schools. There seem to be different categories of children in public, private, and alternative schools. Here are two categories in private schools. The first is in the alternative or boarder schools; these are for struggling teens. There is a problem in the United States due to the complex and fast paced society in which we live. There are times when it becomes difficult for parents to cope with their troubled teenagers. Alternative boarder schools are private and if the teen needs help with any of the following conditions, then one should consider a private school. Here are a few situations in which a parent should consider a private school for a troubled teen.
• Failing in public schools
• Communication problems at school and home
