(Choose a school location for details) Since 1971, Frog Hollow has offered students of all ages and skill levels access to craft education - from Camp Frog Hollow, a summer day camp for kids, to master level workshops for professional craftspeople. Our Craft Schools in Burlington, Manchester and Middlebury run year-round, offering classes in various media, including fiber, glass, metal, painting, photography and wood. Each Craft School has a clay studio that operates under the guidance of our experienced resident potters. "Thank you, Frog Hollow for the unique opportunities you've given me to express myself through art. I've been able to make everything from a cherry table to vases and mugs for Mom. Nowhere else could I do this."
- Jesse Larson
Age 16 The Craft Schools meet the needs of youth and adults in these thriving arts communities, where we offer craft classes, lectures and demonstrations led by Vermont artists and guest speakers. Frog Hollow has formed partnerships with neighboring schools in all three communities to supplement art education. Through these partnerships, our Tadpole Art program, Summer Camps, and other classes found in our catalog, Frog Hollow teaches craft to approximately 2,300 children each year.

Getting a Master's degree at SIT was part of Tanya Cruz Teller's five-year plan. Three years of research-based international work for academic and nonprofit organizations in Grenada, Cuba and Israel had convinced her that it was time to commit her energies in the US for at least five years. Says Tanya, "I decided that if I could be of assistance here it would have an international impact." While she planned to work in the US, Tanya wanted to continue her education at an institution that was internationally focused and also valued the experiences of its students. "I was looking for a graduate school that walked its talk around the value of experience," says Tanya. Now, in her position as associate director of Youth Build USA's training center, Tanya says she uses skills she learned at SIT every day. Viewed as an expert process facilitator, meeting convener and trainer, Tanya attributes much of her expertise to the significant work she did at SIT in cross-cultural communication. As her five-year plan unfolds, Tanya has been involved in a new area of Youth Build's mission. In addition to her other roles, she manages the organization's partnership with a youth organization in South Africa. "It's very exciting, very inspirational," says Tanya, who will soon travel to South Africa to help launch the new program.

Racism Study Circle Program
Community Action Priorities
During the month of April 2003, over 250 citizens participated in one of 20 different racism study circles held throughout Burlington. These facilitated, small group discussions focused on racism and white privilege in our community. On May 13, 2003, over 250 people gathered to hear the priority actions identified by the 20 Study Circles that met throughout April. The priority actions have been organized into 8 theme areas: schools; business; housing; media; government and civic participation; community resource center; community education and awareness; and celebrations, arts and culture. Teams have been created to move to action to address racism in these 8 theme areas. We would like to encourage broad community participation in these action teams. If you are interested in attending any of the upcoming meetings please contact the convener so an agenda can be sent to you ahead of time. Schools - provide additional cultural competency training for all school personnel; curriculum changes to reflect the community's diversity.
