I T'S OVERSPENDING, STUPID John Kerry has blamed George Bush's tax cuts for today's federal deficit, and proposed their repeal as a centerpiece of his economic strategy. Exactly how much of today's federal deficit would be eliminated by reversing the various Bush reforms? The Tax Foundation recently used the Congressional Budget Office economic model to make careful estimates. First, economists from the Tax Foundation calculated what would happen if today's top two tax rates of 35 percent and 33 percent were restored to their pre-Bush levels of 39.6 percent and 36 percent. To this they added the money that would be raised in those brackets by once again allowing full double taxation of dividends. The total effect: This year's deficit would be reduced from $477 billion to $450 billion. Second, the economists assumed that the rest of George Bush's capital gains and dividend income tax reductions would be eliminated. This further reduced next year's deficitto $430 billion.

NEWS YOU WON'T FIND ON CNN GOP candidate calls for impeachment
By Gordon Dritschilo

Herald Staff
07/21/05 " Rutland Herald " - - A Congressional candidate who wants to impeach President Bush insists he can win the Republican primary.
Dennis Morrisseau, 62, of West Pawlet, plans to seek the Republican nomination to run for U.S. House of Representatives. The seat is being vacated by Rep. Bernard Sanders, I-Vt., who plans a run for the U.S. Senate.
A central part of his platform, Morrisseau said, will be bringing articles of impeachment against Bush.
He will most likely face Maj. Gen. Martha Rainville, adjutant general of the Vermont National Guard, in the September 2006 primary, along with any other candidates who might get themselves placed on the ballot between now and then.
Morrisseau said he considers himself more of a Republican than the president, and he thinks a lot of Vermont Republicans agree with him.
"This leadership isn't very Republican and I don't think it's very popular with Vermont Republicans," he said. "Republicans in this state tend to be mind-your-own-business people, keep taxes low and government small."

Save a personal copy of this article and quickly find it again with Furl.net. It's free! Save it. The world of the print media is undergoing a revolution that some have compared with the invention of the printing process itself. Various words have been used to try to encapsulate it, starting with "computerization" and proceeding to "digital" as technological advances have made more and more kinds of equipment capable of collaboration. The Internet's transformation from geek dream to practical alternative to essential service has added "dot com," particularly in relation to a stock market collapse that served notice that there were and probably are limits to what the new technology can do. But there is no doubt that electronic data processing has transformed the operations of the print media, broadly construing that phrase to include advertising, public relations and intra- organizational communications as well as the traditional news media. Likewise there have been profound changes in areas of endeavor that flow into these media, such as graphic arts.

Success with media is dependent on building good working relationships with the people who control and contribute to what gets attention. The more you can relate your story to the wider interests of the community the more effective your efforts will be. Remember amiable persistence will pay off over time.

Norman Rockwell Museum of Vermont - Your #1 Source for Norman Rockwell Art, Norman Rockwell Prints, Norman Rockwell Figurines, Norman Rockwell Plates, Norman Rockwell Boy Scout Prints, Saturday Evening Post Covers, and More! Americans first knew and loved Norman Rockwell's art as it appeared on and between the covers of America's most popular magazines. These magazine covers, advertisements, and illustrations are the heart of the collection here at the Norman Rockwell Museum. Rockwell painted for publication. He once said, "I don't want to paint for the few who can see a canvas in a museum, for I believe that in a democracy art belongs to the people. I want my pictures to be published". So Rockwell's art had to be understandable to millions of people and it had to conform to the limits of space, of deadlines, and of editorial policy imposed by the printed page. Our exhibit shows how Rockwell met these exacting requirements. The Saturday Evening Post covers with which most people are familiar represent a fraction of Rockwell's art. He also painted covers for such forgotten magazines as Judge, Leslie's, The Literary Digest, The Country Gentlemen, and a host of others.
