Vermont Clean Cities Coalition
State Energy Program (SEP) Special Project, Vermont, 2003 The Vermont Clean Vehicles Coalition (VCVC) became the 82nd official partner in the U.S. Department of Energy's Clean Cities program in 2001. Since then, the number recorded alternative fuel vehicles (AFVs) has increased from 150 to 413. Great strides are being made to diversify and expand the alternative fueling infrastructure in the state: electric vehicle charging stations are added every year; greater care has been taken to identify and locate propane fueling; and funding has been secured and plans begun for the construction of a fast fill CNG station in Burlington. Plans are also being made for at least one additional fast fill CNG station in the Burlington area. Interest in biodiesel and ethanol grows monthly, and we anticipate public biodiesel and ethanol fueling in the state within the next two years. There is also a strong push to bring full-scale biodiesel production to the state. This grant will provide the funding to operate VCVC, including staff salaries and outreach activities and materials. The VCVC provides Vermont with the organization, motivation, and the staff to direct and sustain its statewide Clean Cities activities, such as:
