W X Y Z State Requirements Alabama Three years of satisfactory full-time teaching experience and 50 clock hours of professional development over five years are required. Alaska For certificate renewal, six semester credits are required; nonacademic credits can be substituted for three of the six. The State Department of Education will credit teachers with one nonacademic credit per 15 clock hours. Therefore, IRA transcripts of clock hours recording up to a total of 45 hours can be used toward certificate renewal. Arizona Requires 180 clock hours of professional development activities during the valid period listed on teaching certificate. Note: No more than 30 clock hours per year may be earned at conferences and workshops. Arkansas Thirty approved clock hours of annual professional development are required over the duration of a five-year teaching license.

R277-513-1. Definitions.
A. "Basic Certificate" means the initial certificate issued by the Board permitting the holder to be employed as an educator in the public schools. B. "Board" means the Utah State Board of Education. C. "Core Curriculum" means minimum academic standards as established by the Utah State Board of Education which shall be mastered by all students K-12 as a requisite for graduation from Utah's secondary schools. D. "Endorsement" means a specialty field or area listed on a certificate which indicates specific qualification of the holder. E. "ESL" means English as a Second Languagean instructional method whereby an instructor teaches students of limited English-speaking ability how to use standard English in order to become functional in the world of work or in their daily activities.

To apply for a teaching license in the State of Nevada, an applicant MUST SUBMIT a COMPLETE APPLICATION PACKET which must include the following: 1. The completed application, signed and notarized; 2. Official transcript(s) for those post-secondary institutions attended where the required course work for licensure was completed. In order for a transcript to be considered official, it must bear both the seal of the college/university and the registrar's signature. (NO photocopies or FAXES will be accepted); 3. Interstate Reciprocity or Using a Teaching Certificate from Another State
New York has interstate contracts with more than 30 other states and jurisdictions. As outlined in the Interstate Agreement of Qualification of Educational Personnel, a person prepared in one of the contract states who meets the conditions of the contract is eligible for Initial certification in New York. The conditions are either (1) completion of an approved program of teacher preparation or (2) possession of a valid certificate in the contract state and service under that certificate in three of the most recent seven years. In addition, applicants must obtain qualifying scores on the New York State Teacher Certification Examinations to obtain an Initial Certificate. However, applicants who have not completed the testing requirement may obtain a Conditional Initial Certificate (see below.)
