What curriculum should I use? What about socialization? ... Where can I get help when I need it? HOMESCHOOL FAQ's
Can I really do this?

The most common misperception about homeschooling is that you must have a college degree or some other special qualifications to teach your own children. Nothing could be further from the truth. You are perfectly qualified to teach your children just because they are your children. No matter how competent and devoted a professional teacher may be, that teacher can never know or love your child as deeply as you do. And since love underlies all true learning, homeschooling parents actually have an advantage over professional teachers. [See also page 9 herein: Are You Qualified to Homeschool?] What do homeschoolers do all day?
Most people who ask this question are operating out of their own public-school experience and are hoping to be handed a schedule showing reading at nine o'clock, math at ten, history at eleven, and so forth. In fact, many homeschoolers do begin by patterning their homes after the public schools, but few of us do it for long, because we quickly find better ways. Home school is not just 'school' at home; it's a completely different approach to education. We feel that life itself is the best possible school. What curriculum should I use?

    Especially For Parents
Being a parent is the most difficult job in the world. Raising a child to be a responsible citizen is a huge undertaking. It begins when children are very small, the terrible two's for example, and continues throughout the "terrible teenage" years and sometimes into adulthood. Dealing with "normal" difficult behavior stages is hard enough. Trying to handle atypical behavior from children is infinitely more challenging. The content for this section of the website is selected by parents and educators to ensure that the information provided is meaningful and helpful. It is intended to provide parents with information and resources about managing behavior in general. Additionally, there are tips on dealing with behavior in the school settings. Also included are ideas for working with school personnel and information about what to expect from the educational system. There is a list of resources, support organizations, and upcoming events that will be updated regularly. We welcome your suggestions.
