Working Abroad
Working abroad can prove a very educational and rewarding experience for those looking for adventure. There are many types of overseas work but to simplify, lets break it down into five basic categories: To determine which category your should aim for, you must do a realistic evaluation of your qualifications. For example, if you do not yet have a BA or equivalent degree, you may be limited to working temporary low-skill employment such as being a nanny or working at a resort or working under the table without a visa. Obviously if you have an advanced degree and are fluent in the language of the country you are aiming for, you stand a much better chance of landing a professional job. This is especially true in Asia where many Asian-Americans and Asian-Canadians are finding their fluency in English and an Asian language to be a highly sought-after skill in the business community. As you are planning your international job search, be realistic in your expectations and don't make the mistake of thinking that it will be easier to get a good job overseas than at home - it's not. While it may be pretty easy for anyone with a BA to land a job teaching English in Asia, that doesn't necessarily mean it is a job you will do well at or even enjoy. Remember that you never get something for nothing and thinking you will cash in on a foreign job is not a good strategy for international employment. After all, there is a reason that salaries are higher in certain parts of the world - either the cost of living is higher or the conditions are difficult and justify the "hardship" pay.

Hawaiian Studies
The Atmosphere
Students in the Hawaiian Studies Program come from several different islands and play an important part in the direction of the program. The classroom atmosphere at Hilo stresses mastery of Hawaiian culture and active use of it, particularly language. All upper division Hawaiian culture, linguistics, and music courses are taught in Hawaiian. The program also stresses the importance of contact with community and requires majors to take at least one course taught by a community expert. Permeating Hawaiian Studies at Hilo is a sense of responsibility for Hawaiian culture shared by faculty and students alike. Those interested and concerned with Hawaii's future will find Hilo to be a stimulating and enjoyable place to live and study.
The Future
Hawaiian Studies is a new field which is already playing an important role in the direction of life in Hawaii. In response to amendments to Hawai's Constitution, public schools and government departments are presently developing programs to promote Hawaiian culture, language, and history for the general public as well as new programs for people of Hawaiian ancestry.

South Florida Center For Floral Studies Setting the Standard . . . . Leading the Way
Watch this space for news and upcoming events! To see John Klingel, the director of the South Florida Center for Floral Studies, on WPTV, Channel 5, click here! If you are unable to view the video, you may need to download Windows Media Player. A floral design school that offers complete floral instruction is located in West Palm Beach, Florida. The floral design classes are comprehensive and offer floral education that covers all aspects of the floral industry. In addition we introduce procedures during the Basic Floral Design Class on how to buy and price fresh flowers, floral arrangements, wedding flowers, bouquets and services. Florists who are training for a floral career that will enhance their already existing skills should consider the Advanced Floral Design Class. Professional floral design instruction is vital especially to people who have already invested money into an existing business. I encourage those entrepreneurs to seek out a reputable floral design school to give them the tools they need to succeed. If you have already purchased a flower shop get as much flower training as you can from someone who has done it successfully. Flower shop management is a business that is ever changing so continuing education is important in our industry. It is not only important to learn floral design but, to keep learning. A floral design school can help a shop owner keep a competetive advantage, by helping to educate the owner on current trends in the floral industry.

Iraq is estimated to hold 115 billion barrels of proven oil reserves, and possibly much more undiscovered oil in unexplored areas of the country. Iraq also is estimated to contain at least 110 trillion cubic feet of natural gas. The country is a focal point for regional and oil security issues. Note: The information contained in this report is the best available as of June 2005 and is subject to change. Please click here for a complete chronology of events pertaining to Iraq from 1980 through March 2005. GENERAL BACKGROUND
Iraq now finds itself in a period of uncertainty and transition after more than three decades of Ba'ath party rule. Following the end of Saddam Hussein's rule in the spring of 2003, Iraq was governed for a year by the "Coalition Provisional Authority (CPA)" led by the United States and the United Kingdom. On June 28, 2004, the CPA transferred power to a sovereign Iraqi interim government, with national elections held on January 30, 2005. A permanent constitution is to be written by October 2005, with elections for a permanent government scheduled for December 2005. On May 3, 2005, the new transitional government was sworn in, with Ibrahim Jaafari as Prime Minister. Although Iraq's unemployment rate remains high (perhaps 30 percent or more), the overall Iraqi economy appears to be recovering rapidly from its condition just after the war, fueled in large part by U.S. and international reconstruction aid. For 2004, Iraqi real GDP growth was estimated by
