We are continuously seeking new research in response to ever changing global strategic issues. We will publish any appropriate, applicable, and acceptable materials in one of three ways. The first method, and easiest way to be published, is to submit a research paper or study to be published in response to a Key Strategic Issue. Your research, if approved, will then be put into the KSIL system for electronic retrieval, but there will be no official monograph. There is no compensation for your work, but the Army and Joint staff as well as the general public will be able to view and possibly utilize your research. We electronically publish about 400 studies per year in our KSIL system per year.

History
Since 1984, LASP has been designated as a National Resource Center (NRC) in Latin American Studies under the U.S. Department of Education's Title VI program. In association with the Center for Latin American Studies at the University of Pittsburgh . LASP is one of some twenty institutions so recognized by the federal government for their excellence in Latin American Studies. Major sources of permanent support for LASP activities come from the Mario Einaudi Center, and endowments established from funds granted by the Form and Morelos foundations. The Program has also received support from a series of short-term awards, such as the 1990 award from the National Endowment for the Humanities which was used to host a summer seminar on the Andes. LASP was also awarded a major grant from the Venezuelan Fundacion Gran Mariscal de Ayacucho intended for cooperative projects between scholars and students at Cornell and their counterparts in Venezuela. In 2004 LASP was awarded a three year grant from the Tinker Foundation to support graduate student research in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Recent American Red Cross The American Red Cross has a long history of providing support to members of the United States armed forces. For instance, the organization's Armed Forces Emergency Services gives military family members an immediate means to contact deployed troops to inform them of an emergency, like a dying family member. Gas Prices Beating the Heat For more than 15 years now (since the first Gulf War in 1990), members of the U.S. Military have had to learn to deal with the dangerous aspects of extreme heat. In July, it is not unusual for temperatures in the Persian Gulf region to climb to a sizzling 120 degrees, cooling only to about 100 degrees at night. Here's some of the lesson's we've learned. Public Confidence in Military The American public has more confidence in the military than in any other institution, according to a Gallup poll released this week. Seventy-four percent of those surveyed in Gallup's 2005 confidence poll said they have "a great deal" or "quite a lot" of confidence in the military - more than in a full range of other government, religious, economic, medical, business and news organizations.
