A resident of Duzce trapped under a collapsed structure waits to be freed
Hundreds reported injured
November 12, 1999 Web posted at: 8:40 p.m. EST (0140 GMT) DUZCE, Turkey (CNN) Rescuers are searching through the night to retrieve survivors and bodies from debris left by Friday's 7.2-magnitude earthquake in western Turkey that has killed at least 60 people. Relief workers set up about 2,000 tents, handed out thousands of blankets and mobilized dog teams, said Charles Evans of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent. At least 1,000 people were reported injured when the quake, felt several hundred kilometers away and causing widespread damage, occurred at 6:57 p.m. (1657 GMT) Friday.
