Creating Drama with Poetry: Teaching English as a Second Language Through Dramatization and Improvisation http://www.cal.org/ericcll/digest/gaspar01.html “Creating drama with poetry is an exciting language learning experience. The technique employs a multi-sensory approach to language acquisition by involving second language learners physically, emotionally, and cognitively in the language learning process.”

Give each child a simple phrase, easy to memorize. Example: "Anthony, come here." or "Open the door." Each student then has to say their line in three or four differernt tones of voice to convey different meanings. Improvisation: Pretend you have a box of shoes (or use an actual shoe box). Check out the newest updates to this page. WELCOME! Welcome to childdrama.com! This website is packed with resources for Drama Teachers in Elementary and Secondary Schools, and for producers of Theatre for Young Audiences. I created this website to help me get my own plays out there, and to provide help and support to producers, school Theatre directors, and classroom Drama teachers. Since then it has become one of the biggest educational drama resources on the net. There is all sorts of great stuff here! If you are looking for a great children's play to produce, or for some really effective lesson plans for your Drama classroom, you came to the right place! I have also included a bibliography of helpful books, definitions of terms with discussion, proven monologues for young performers, a list of great links, and tons of other helpful stuff. There are even dozens of photos from productions I've directed and designed, most of them with and/or for young people. (Don't worrythe photos are on their own pages. I've tried to keep the graphics to a reasonable level throughout the site, in consideration of those folks who hate sitting around waiting for pages to load.) I want to make this the most useful site on the web for teachers and professionals involved in Theatre and Drama with and for Young People.
