Luis de Carbajal by orders of the governor Martin de Almanza entered into the land of war to punish and pacify the tribes of the mountains, an area now known as Nuevo Reino de Leon. Luis de Carbajal returns to Spain and makes a contract with the King to conquer and settle six hundred square leagues with name New Realm of Leon. After crossing the San Juan river and naming it, he entered into the Monterrey area. From there, Carbajal traveled north and then east and arrived at the site where he established the new settlement of Leon ( Cerralvo ). Carbajal was a Portuguese Jew and traveled with an expedition of about 200 men, many of whom were from the old province of Leon in Spain. The area was very similar to there home in Spain, so the men named the new province Nuevo Reino de Leon (New Realm of Leon). Later with some settlers from Saltillo, Carbajal established a settlement north of the springs of Monterrey and named it

the Texas Unofficial History Group See List Of Members A Few Thoughts On Texas History And
Texas Genealogy Web Sites The "Texas Unofficial History Group" is composed of a loosely knit group of Texans who are interested in Texas History and Genealogy and have web pages that feature those subjects. The “Texas Unofficial History Group” was started after a friend of mine was trying to inform another "Genealogist" about the extensive information on one of my web sites about a particular Texas community and the county in which it is located. He quickly informed her that it didn't make any difference what information someone else's site had, because his “Gen Web” site, for the same county, was the only "Official” web site for that particular county. We are not as pompous or egotistical as an "Official Site" that believes the information on their pages is written in stone. We take pride in the fact that if we discover a different version of our "facts", we'll check it out. If these new facts can not be disproved, there is plenty of room on our web pages for more then one versions of the same event. We encourage all visitors to our sites to submit any new or conflicting information, links to similar sites and both compliments or criticism of the site you are visiting. We would also love for all similar sites to be linked in the group with ours.
