God Bless America! CONTENTS: Daily Soul Food What's New? About Me Genealogy ... Awards Our Family Trees were planted in Texas! TEXAS , an area of rich soils, timberlands, and warm climate cried out for her settlement to brave pioneers who left behind family members, friends, and countries in order to seek their dreams of freedom, fortune and happiness. Each, with his own unique reason, faced the hardships of early travel as he rejected the elements of the weather, disease, hunger, and sometimes even death in order to fulfill his quest. Some of our ancestors arrived in Texas while it was still part of Mexico, receiving Land Grants given by the Mexican government. Some fought Indians to keep their families safe, and others fought for Texas Independence and Statehood. It is my hope that this site will help some of you find a link to your brave ancestors who lived through those hard times. By the grace of God, these men with their talents, integrity, and leadership molded our great state of

80. Angelina County, TXGenWeb Project
Genealogy information and links for the county.
http://www.rootsweb.com/~txangeli/
Welcome to Angelina County the "Land of the Little Angel." Hi! My name is Carla Karbowski Clifton and I am the County Coordinator for Angelina County TXGenWeb Project. Angelina County has a wonderful and colorful history! Please help to preserve and share this beautiful county by contributing any photos, deeds, census records, cemetery records, family histories, photographs, etc., that you might wish to contribute. Please feel free to send me your Angelina County information and I will be happy to add it to our collection. If you can do lookups for county resources please let me know or sign up on our volunteer page The area that is now Angelina County was originally occupied by agricultural Indians of Caddoan and Atakapan-related stock. The county was named for a Hainai Indian girl who, according to Spanish legend, helped early Spanish missionaries of the area around 1690. The Spanish Franciscan priests called her Angelina or "Little Angel". Eventually her village became known as Angelina's Village and the stream where it was located became Angelina's river. Angelina County, Texas was formed in 1846 from Nacogdoches County, Texas.
