    • Set the stage for open communication. Discuss family use patterns, attitudes and feelings about the use of alcohol. Talk about peer (friends, classmates, neighbors, sports team members) drinking. Provide guidelines for parties. Be aware of legislation that holds parents liable for allowing drinking on their property. Discuss options if problems arise, such as date drinking. Make a contract with your child to call home for help.
