The Complex also houses the main Olympic Stadium, and will in many ways be the focal point of the Games.
If you think the Centre looks like the one that was used at the 2000 Games in Sydney - you're right! British architect Richard Rees designed both of them, and so the Athens centre court in particular looks very much like the centre court in Sydney, and Wimbledon's No. 1 Court, which he also designed.
The Centre Court also houses the players' lounge and locker rooms, media centre, tournament control and technology.
There are 16 courts in total, 10 of which will be used for matches, six as practice courts. Aside from Centre Court, there will be two show courts, and then a further seven match courts.

Aside of the four Grand Slam events, the tennis at the Olympics is one of the biggest events in the sport. However, since it only happens every four years, it is perhaps even more important to some players. Like Grand Slam events medals are on offer in the men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles and mixed doubles. Some top players aren't going to be there as the Olympics happen just before the US Open Grand Slam tournament. Who are the British hopes for Athens? That would be Tim Henman again, who is most likely to take the sole spot on offer to Great Britain. He could be joined by Greg Rusedski in the doubles. There aren't any British women competing at the Olympics. Who are the big names?
Wimbledon finalists Roger Federer and Andy Roddick are sure to do well, as both are in excellent form and the hard court the event it is played on will suit them. In the women's event the Williams sisters will again expect to do well, after Venus won the singles in 2000 and teamed up with Serena in the doubles for gold too. But traditionally in Olympic tennis there have often been surprises, with Tim Henman and Neil Broad winning silver in the doubles back in 1996.

Kafelnikov: Golden joy
The BBC's Iain Carter gives his verdict on golden duo Venus Williams and Yevgeny Kafelnikov. For the first time tennis sat at the top table at an Olympic Games - and it did not appear out of place. The magnificent New South Wales Tennis Centre is one of fourteen sporting venues at Sydney Olympic Park, and so for once the sport wasn't tucked away at some far flung site, instead it was to be found within eyeshot of the torch and at the very heart of the Games. For some, the presence of tennis in the Olympics will never sit easily, but try telling that to the 170 thousand fans who over the ten days of competition witnessed the unstoppable Venus Williams, the inspired Yevgeny Kafelnikov, the shock early defeats of Lleyton Hewitt and Pat Rafter and the career ending gold quest that ultimately resulted in doubles silver for the Woodies. To a player each and every competitor spoke of their pride at representing their country, of being an Olympian and the simple message to the likes of Pete Sampras, who failed to show up, was that it was their loss.

Bless you, Venus Williams, for finally pointing out the distinction that had so long eluded me. "It's a change from the [other] tournaments," she said on Thursday after dispatching Tamarine Tanasugarn of Thailand in the second round, 6-2, 6-3. "Everyone's trading pins."
