The unquestioned highlight of the 2003-2004 theater season will be Tennessee Williams Explored Cat on a Hot Tin Roof The Glass Menagerie , and A Streetcar Named Desire May 8 - May 30, 2004
Set against the steamy backdrop of New Orleans’ gritty French Quarter, Tennessee Williams’s 1947 Pulitzer Prize–winning drama tells the story of Blanche Dubois, a faded Southern belle driven to madness by her animalistic brother-in-law, Stanley Kowalski. Taking refuge from her crumbling past, the fragile yet determined Blanche arrives unexpectedly at her married sister Stella’s doorstep, hoping for a better life and restoration of her senses. But her childlike helplessness, romantic yearnings, and genteel illusions are no match for the squalor of her new surroundings, the oppressive summer heat, and Stanley’s growing lustful rage. The combination of these brutish forces inevitably triggers Blanche’s mental and moral disintegration, making A Streetcar Named Desire one of Williams’s most electrifying and absorbing theatrical masterpieces.

Carson-Newman College: A Christian, liberal arts college located in Jefferson City, Tennessee Why should you choose Carson-Newman when there are thousands of other U.S. institutions? The answer to the question is clear. One of Carson-Newman 's finest characteristics is our ability to have dialogue concerning virtually any topic in the context of a Christian worldview. This aspect of our community of learners is very freeing and, therefore, important to the future of humankind. How can the Carson-Newman experience educate our students unless we discuss, analyze, review research and theory, and allow all this to happen in relation to our Christian faith? We must engage the most serious of issues openly and fairly. It is in this type of Christian college environment that freedom and civility take on deeper meanings. We dedicate ourselves and our institution to making such freedom a reality for each Carson-Newman student.

http://tsdeaf.org/about/about.html
The Tennessee School for the Deaf was established in 1844 by an act of the State Legislature, and opened its doors with nine students in 1845. The school was located in what is now known as "Old City Hall" on Summit Hill Drive in Knoxville, Tennessee until 1924. It was then moved to its present location, a ninety-six acre campus located on the banks of the Tennessee River in South Knoxville.
The Tennessee School for the Deaf offers an individualized and comprehensive educational program. The school provides a total learning environment that utilizes state of the art curricula, materials and methods for the purpose of preparing students for adult life. Students are equipped academically, vocationally, physically, emotionally and morally to meet the daily challenges presented by society.
The Instructional Program is known as a leader in the education of the deaf and hard-of-hearing. The program serves students from nursery through grade twelve. Students receive instruction in language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, computer technology, vocational education, independent living skills, physical education, and health. In each area, staff members have developed a curriculum that is specifically designed to meet the educational needs of hearing impaired students. An Individual Education Plan is provided for every child in the program. In addition to preparing students academically, the IEP is used to set goals and objectives for developing speech skills, and to make Occupational and Physical Therapy available to those children who need help in mastering basic motor skills.

Introduction
The 95 Tennessee counties are grouped into 12 regions for purposes of service delivery. During the study period, there was a family preservation coordinator who was responsible for overseeing the administration of the family preservation programs, including setting standards, contracting with private providers throughout the state, and providing training and technical assistance. Direct services were delivered by private providers under contract to the state. Shelby County (Memphis) participated in the evaluation. Study enrollment began in November 1996 and concluded in May 1998. Frayser Family Counseling provides the HomeTies Program in Shelby County. The sources of material for this chapter are reports and documents produced by the state and interviews with personnel at the DCS and HomeTies program. This information is presented to help understand the context in which services were provided, and to identify any changes that occurred during the implementation of the evaluation. The observations only reflect the perceptions of the individuals we interviewed.

Formally established in 1979, the Center's objective is to promote old time music and pay tribute to the Original Carter Family (A.P., Sara, and Maybelle Carter). The Saturday concerts highlight the musical style made popular by the Carter Family, who are considered by many as country music's first family. In keeping with the traditional music style, no electrical instruments are allowed (everything is acoustic). There's lots of dancing and fun for the entire family. Shows are family-oriented; no alcohol is permitted at concerts. O nce each year, a two-day (Friday and Saturday) festival takes place the first weekend of August. Festival show times are from 2:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. each day. Mountain craftsmen are on hand to sell their goods, and there's lots of good country cooking going on, too. C onsider spending a Saturday with us in rural southwest Virginia for an evening of musical entertainment you won't soon forget. Come early and browse through our museum before the show. Chances are you'll make some new friends and leave us with some fond memories. We'd love to have you visit us.
