Jewish Family Services - member of National Association of Jewish Family and Children's Agencies

Director: Nancy Britcher, MSW, LCSW is a licensed, professional social worker.
Jewish Family Services Resources:
  • Individual and family counseling that is confidential and low cost.
  • Eldercare Consultation to plan for short- and long-term needs of seniors and their families.
  • In-home assessments of current functioning for elderly individuals
  • Community Resource planning, including housing options for seniors, transportation, and other links to Knoxville community agencies.
  • Support groups for caregivers and persons dealing with loss
  • Parenting concerns and ways to cope with developmental change, from preschoolers to adolescents.
  • Volunteer services, including visits to nursing home and assisted living residents, telephone reassurance and transportation assistance.
Most services are free or payable on a sliding scale. Staff and volunteers are available five days a week, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Call KJA for more information at 690-6343. Last update: 5/25/2005

The UT Hamblen County Agricultural Extension Service is a partnership between Hamblen County Government, The University of Tennessee and The United States Department of Agriculture to provide educational information to the citizens of Hamblen County. We offer educational programming in agriculture, family and consumer science, youth development and community resource development.
The Hamblen County Extension Service offers programs for farmers and homeowners including soil testing, weed, insect and disease indentification and control, forage testing, educational classes/workshops/seminars and pesticide certification.
For families and individuals we offer nutrition education, financial planning, co-parenting classes, and home management.

TNCEP is a nutrition education program for Tennessee families who receive Foods Stamps or who are eligible for Food Stamps. The goal of TNCEP is to teach families how to choose and prepare nutritionally adequate diets and help them feel empowered to move toward self-sufficiency. Families are taught how to use Food Stamps and related resources effectively. Education is delivered by county Extension faculty and partners in the community who work with the Food Stamp audience. The characteristic of TNCEP that makes it different from other nutrition education programs is that it is coalition-driven. A community coalition of individuals from various agencies determine what types of education are delivered. Funding for TNCEP is provided by the Tennessee Department of Human Services TNCEP focuses on four primary areas of education. These include:
