Teen Pregnancy
Teen pregnancy is one of the most difficult experiences a young woman like you might ever face. Ashamed and scared at this point, it is almost natural to crumble under the pressure from your boyfriend, who has either left you or is just hanging around for your decision. The stress of how you are going to break this news to your parents might be even greater, especially if they raised you with certain morals. You might think no one can help you, and you might also be too embarrassed to search for help. However, denying your pregnancy or ignoring it can only make things worse for you and your baby. Denial will not take the pregnancy away, instead, you will lose the time you could have invested in prenatal care and counseling.

    TEEN WITH HIV
Feb 6, 2003 I received a response on my question for my 18 year old niece who is HIV+. The next question is how does she get insurance with a company that she works for without revealing that she is HIV+. Does she lie on her application or do most employers offer insurance benefits without asking questions for persons with HIV/AIDS Response from Ms. Franzoi An employer cannot ask questions about a job candidate's medical conditions. They cannot ask what her HIV status is and she would have no need to disclose her status. Once she is employed, she should entroll during the open enrollment period afforded new hires for the benefits she wants.

Family communication about sexuality is an important factor in young people's healthy sexual development, but families do not always find it easy to communicate about sexuality. Planned Parenthood affiliates and other community organizations sometimes try to address this need by conducting educational programs for parents and their children or teens. It is important to evaluate programs to assess their effectiveness with your community. Evaluation results can help you revise the program for the next group. Tips on evaluation follow.
    • In parent-child workshops, at least two groups are involved in the evaluation process (parents and young people), and these groups will likely need separate evaluation tools. If one objective is to increase family communication about sexuality, the evaluation should go beyond assessing knowledge levels to determine how the program affected family dynamics or communication among family members.

    Gabrielle Zevin

In Gabrielle Zevin's inventive and intelligent new novel ELSEWHERE , the afterlife is portrayed as a place where its inhabitants age in reverse until they reach infancy and are then sent back to Earth and reborn. Teenreads.com contributing writer Carolyn Juris talked to Zevin about the significance of and inspiration behind this idea, as well as her reasons for choosing to gear the book towards a young adult audience. She also reflects on her own thoughts concerning the afterlife, the wisdom of our canine counterparts, and her dream cast if the novel was ever made into a movie.
