Teaching Jobs Overseas Topics: international teaching, teaching overseas, teaching abroad, American and international schools, overseas jobs, international employment, etc.
Alternative Certification Many states have developed or are initiating programs that provide alternative routes to teacher certification, particularly for mid-career professionals. The goal of such programs is to draw a diversity of individuals with in-depth subject matter backgrounds into teaching careers. Requirements for an alternative teaching license vary by state. For an overseas position, it does not matter what state your license is from. Generally, applicants must hold a bachelors degree in the subject to be taught, achieve a passing score on state-required examinations, complete an intensive teacher preparation program, and possibly fulfill a supervised teaching internship. Specific information on which school systems are offering internships can be requested from the schools. After satisfactory completion of these requirements, the applicant will be issued a teaching credential.

Kansas National Board Certified Teachers National Teacher Certification National Board Certification is a way for the teaching profession to recognize highly accomplished teaching practice. A certificate awarded by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) attests that a teacher has been judged by his or her peers as one who meets high and rigorous professional standards. He or she has demonstrated the ability, in a variety of settings, to make sound professional judgments about students' best interests and to act effectively on those judgments. The Great Plains Center's program, which first began during National Board field testing in 1992-95, continues to grow each year, and to provide improved and expanded assistance, resources, and leadership to recruit and support Kansas teachers through National Board Certification professional development. T EACHER C ERTIFICATION IN N EWFOUNDLAND AND L ABRADOR
    Introduction
All teachers employed in the primary/elementary/secondary schools of this province, are required by law to hold a valid Newfoundland and Labrador Teacher's Certificate. There are four basic teaching certificates which, in general terms, represent increasingly higher levels of approved degree programs and additional years of university study. Teaching certificates are endorsed according to the type of professional study completed ; Primary/Elementary; Secondary; or Primary/Elementary/Secondary. There is no endorsement for subject areas. Certificate holders may teach any subject area within the grade level endorsement which they hold. Minimum Requirements for Certification
    1. All applicants requesting certification must hold an approved education degree from Memorial University of Newfoundland or the equivalent as determined by the Registrar of Teacher Certification.

Teacher Certification Study New Study Shows Certification Matters At the American Educational Research Association annual meeting on April 15th, a team of Stanford researchers presented a new study entitled The study looked at achievement gains on six tests over a six year period for over 132,000 students taught by more than 4,400 teachers in Houston, Texas. It found that certified teachers were consistently more effective than uncertified teachers, and that these findings held equally for Teach for America (TFA) teachers and other teachers. The findings suggest that teacher preparation makes a difference for all teachers, including Teach for America teachers. Check the Facts html version pdf file
