Never danced before? Two left feet? No rhythm? No problem! Come on out and have fun dancing at the Anne MacDonald Hall in North Vancouver on Saturday night! We offer a free East Coast dance lesson with admission. The dance lesson starts at 7:30. This is an all ages event DJed by the swiningest DJs in Vancouver. This night is a mix of East Coast Swing and Lindy Hop. If you don't know what Lindy Hop is, well its hard to explain and you'll just have to come out and see. East Coast is a fun, easy to learn dance and our DJs will get you out of your seat and on the dance floor. Sadly, Swing dancing as we knew it at the Vancouver Legion is over. After closing down to swing dancing a few years ago, the Legion has recently re-opened to dancing under new management. If you liked the Legion in its previous format come out to North Shore Swing for a fun night on the town.

Collins came to California in the 1930's to get into the movies and brought with him his version of the "Savoy Style Lindy." History of Swing Dancing
By: Lori Heikkila On March 26, 1926, the Savoy Ballroom opened its doors in New York. The Savoy was an immediate success with its block-long dance floor and a raised double bandstand. Nightly dancing attracted most of the best dancers in the New York area. Stimulated by the presence of great dancers and the best black bands, music at the Savoy was largely Swinging Jazz.
