BSAC Schools have been training people to dive for more than 20 years. The Diver Training Programme is identical in content to the latest BSAC Branch Diver Training Programme. All the lessons equally suit the ' Dive School' environment of more intensive instruction, meeting the needs of the diver who prefers to go to a School for their initial training. The programme builds confidence and self-reliance, whilst keeping safety uppermost. Diving skills are taught progressively so that each new experience is built upon step by step. Following basic training in the safety of a swimming pool or protected area, students soon complete their first open water dives and to start to build their experience and confidence.
  • Ocean Diver

Sport German schools abroad German schools abroad are a mainstay of our cultural relations and education policy, having a major long-term impact on their host countries. The schools are run by private associations and cater for the needs of German as well as foreign children interested in an education geared to German norms. Contacts with the host country are fostered not only through the schools' educational but also through their many cultural and social activities. In the 2003 fiscal year some 117 schools abroad are receiving funding in the order of EUR 179.9 million. In this area the Federal Foreign Office is supported by the Länder (federal states), which are responsible for providing teachers and issuing German school leaving certificates. For further information on individual schools see www.auslandsschulwesen.de. International school exchanges School exchanges play a valuable role in fostering contacts between students, teachers and schools from different countries. The Educational Exchange Service (Pädagogischer Austauschdienst - PAD) of the Standing Conference of German Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs (Kultusministerkonferenz - www.kmk.org), which is responsible for running the various exchange programmes, is jointly funded by the Foreign Office, the Länder and the European Union.

NRA/USA Shooting/CMP Coach Schools, Shooting Clinics, and Competitive Shooting Camps Last updated September 21, 2005. The NRA's Education and Training Division schedules coach training schools, shooting clinics, shooting seminars, and American Sport Education Classes. The Shooting Coach Program continuously strives to provide outstanding coach education and athlete training that provides a high-quality experience to every shooting athlete. A high-quality experience is one in which every athlete:
  • Is coached using up-to-date training principles
  • Learns the skills, tactics and strategies of the sport and improves as a shooter
  • Has fun shooting
  • Feels like an important part of the team regardless of performance
  • Learns "life lessons" that have value beyond the range
We recognize that the coach is the one who most directly makes this all possible. It is our goal to provide every coach with the tools to be successful. We are committed to creating a positive environment in which coaches, athletes, parents, officials, and fans work together to achieve our mission in the shooting community. The Shooting Coach Program is a cooperative effort of the three major competitive shooting organizations in the United States, the NRA, USA Shooting (USAS) and the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP). The NRA is the governing body for many domestic shooting sports programs and administers the Shooting Coach Program.

History and Mission
Statement of Needs
The New York Times (January 24, 2000) reported that the growth of after-school programs in NYC has been in the forefront of what has now become a national crusade. The changing demographics of the American family, with both parents in the workforce and an increasing number of single-parent working households, has created a new urgency to extend the school day. At a time when positive after-school and summer camp activities were severely lacking, SASF became a leading force in the drive to allocate resources to increase the number of quality extended day programs in city schools. SASF has established a strong presence in the NYC public school system by maintaining a successful history of working effectively with the New York City Board of Education and local community school districts. Today, more than ever, children are in need of structured developmental activities and academic intervention services both after-school and during the summer months to ensure their acquisition of basic skills. Through their participation in SASF extended day after-school and summer programs, children acquire the social and academic skills they need to achieve the higher learning standards necessary for their future success.
Current Programs and Accomplishments
After School Activities Trust Fund Challenge Grant Program - This program has developed a long-term solution to provide funding for and to cost-effectively administer quality after school programs. It provides matching funds for after-school sports and art activities on a 40-60 private/public basis and resources for the development of quality after-school programs. Public matching funds come primarily from school districts which receive State Education Department funding through Extended School Day/School Violence Prevention appropriations. Private funding comes through the fundraising efforts of SASF.

Athletic, Coaching and Umpire Career and Job Highlights
  • Requires irregular hours and extensive traveling.
  • Athletes could get injuries that terminate their career.
  • High school and amateur sports offer the best job opportunities for coaches, sports instructors, umpires, referees, and sports officials.
  • There is intense competition for professional athlete jobs; therefore, athletes who seek to participate professionally must have amazing talent, passion, and commitment to training.
Sports (Athletic) and Coaching Career Overview
Because of their different focuses, coaches and sports instructors often approach athletes in various ways. For instance, coaches work with the team during a game to optimize their winning chances. On the other hand, sports instructors, like those who instruct professional tennis players, usually are not allowed to coach their athletes during competition. Sports instructors spend a lot of time working one-on-one with athletes, which gives them time to plan custom training programs for individuals. It is challenging for coaches and instructors to encourage players; however, this is vital an athletes success. Several coaches and instructors get great satisfaction doing their job, helping children or young adults socially and physically to improve and learn skills that will promote achievement in their sport.
Umpires, referees, and other sports officials officiate at competitive athletic and sporting events by examining the play, identifying infractions of rules, and imposing penalties according to the sports’ rules and regulations. They predict the plays and then place themselves in the best spot to see the action where they evaluate the situation and decide any violations. A few sports officials may work by themselves, such as those in boxing. Others such as umpires work in groups, such as baseball umpires. Officials' jobs are highly stressful in all sports because they are often have to make a quick decision, sometimes causing strong disagreements among players, coaches, or those watching.
