Welcome to the Marine Spectrochemistry Laboratory within the College of Marine Science at the University of South Florida. Research Focuses on dissolved organic material (DOM) in the aquatic environment - its chemical, photochemical, and fluorescence characteristics. We employ various methods to examine natural organic material in the marine environment, including: fluorescence via in situ techniques and excitation emission matrix spectroscopy (EEMS), high-energy laser fragmentation (HELF), total organic carbon analysis, HPLC, and capillary electrophoresis.

Chemistry and Spectrochemistry of Interfaces Group directed by : Jean Jacques Ehrhardt
ehrhardt@lcpe.cnrs-nancy.fr
Organization Research directions : The main objective of this team is the physicochemical study of the behavior of the metals in solution and at the interfaces, aimed at an understanding of their impact in the environment . This goal can be achieved by the qualitative and quantitative description of the structure-property-reactivity relations of the molecular constructs free in solution or present at the solid-liquid interfaces, by means of spectroscopy. Our knowhow based on our profession of physical chemists, covers both the chemical and structural characterization by photon spectroscopies of adsorbed, complexed, precipitated and dissolved species, and the identification and location at the sub-micron scales of the heterogeneous surface zones of the solids by instrumental and methodological developments. Subjects investigated today :
  • Complexation in aqueous solution of metallic cations with organic matter Themes Structural analysis of biological systems by vibrational spectroscopy (bacterial biofilms, yeast walls)

http://www.conferences.hu/winter2005/invitation2.htm
The Biennial European Winter Conference of Plasma Spectrochemistry has a world-wide reputation as the premier meeting in the field of atomic spectroscopy. Following on from the very successful meeting held in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in 2003, we are pleased to invited you and your co-workers to the brand new member-state of the EU, Hungary. The aims of Winter Conferences are to promote developments in both fundamental and applied plasma spectroscopy by providing a friendly environment, where delegates can meet, formally and informally. As the Chair of the Organizing Committee, I promise to organize a successful meeting, with your help. You have to come, and bring you new ideas, to show to the scientific auditorium of the world. Please accept our invitation. A one-day meeting of the European Working Group on Glow Discharge Spectroscopy will be held in association with the Winter2005 Conference. The meeting of this group are open to all interested participants. Prof. Péter Fodor

in partnership with Read the full article with a Free Trial of HighBeam Research Careful consideration of the dynamics associated with laser ablation solid sampling systems ensures greater analytical precision and accuracy for ICP-MS/OES trace element analysis. For many years, researchers have endeavored to determine the most effective method for collecting accurate in-situ data from solid sample matrices. Within the past 18 years, laser ablation (LA) solid sampling techniques have gained growing acceptance within the analytical community. Continued advances in hardware and analytical methodology bring us closer to our goal.
